Wish me luck...

We just threw the last two paci's in the garbage... She's only been using them at night the last 3 months, and I don't think she actually uses it after she falls asleep anyways. I have to work tomorrow, but then I have a 3 day weekend... Which I'm hoping I don't spend recovering from sleepless nights!

Anyone else on the fence with the paci and wanna take the plunge with me?! :P

Re: Wish me luck...

  • We stopped giving it at night a week or so ago, he rarely used it as it was. Nap times though are a different story! I already have trouble getting him to nap so taking the pacifier away just seems like a horrible idea but I'm going to try!

We quit at nap time over Christmas vacation and it wasn't a big deal at all - I was shocked.  DD wasn't a good napper either, but has gotten much better since she moved into the 1 year old room at daycare.  I think the fact that she gets consistent naps during the week (in a dark, quiet room while everyone else naps too) has helped with naps at home...

  • Morgan doesn't use one at all in daycare, but once she's home it's in her mouth!  She has two in her crib, one in her hand and one in the mouth, they frequently switch positions though.  I would like to get rid of them before she's 18 months old.

My sister tried to get rid of them cold turkey and it didn't work, so now my niece gets hers in the car and at bedtime.  It's cute when she asks for it, she will get her blanket a stuffed penguin and her pacifier and go lay down.  She's just too adorable!!!  I think this is what I'm going to do with Morgan when we are ready to quit the pacifier, only use it at bedtime and then go from there.

  • LO hasn't used them since 3 or 4months & was never really into them. I think she saw another new child using it & then noticed the one we had left my side table. She'd finger it, play with it by putting it into her mouth, give it to Dad or her bear as if putting into their mouths. Would also chomp on the back end and laugh hysterically at her own sillyness. Last month I slowly threw the 6 or 8 that we had in drawers as LO would find them and leave behind in her wake. I think there may still be two around.

Funny story though, the neighbor's youngest ( 3 at the time) was having a hard time giving up his paci, sounds like his parents tried everything including cutting the tips off. It wasn't until they convinced him that Baby LittleFish1 needed them more that he was willing to give them up. Still to this day, he reminds his mom and myself that Baby LittleFish1 needs the paci. (Is even funnier to me since she mostly skipped them)

DS has hated them since day 1, I am glad about this now, but when he was 2 months old and a screaming mess, I was not so much. So, how did it go last night, @kjsmith9?
