Multiples

Travelling with multiples

Hi! We are thinking about going to Disney World this year. Our kids will be 8 and 2 (both sets of twins).

I'm looking for input as to how it was if you've went to Disney with multiples.. like flying, do you take

their car seats, at the park..etc..

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Travelling with multiples

  • We went when my b/g twins had just turned 5.  We rented a double stroller from the parks there and it was a life saver.  There was no way the kids would have been able to handle walking that much and still have energy for other things.

We stayed on the property and used the shuttles.  We ordered groceries online from here   https://www.gardengrocer.com/  and had them delivered to our room.  I feed the kids a in the morning (except for our character breakfast) before we headed out for the day.

My kids were still napping at the time, but we able to hang in there for a pretty full day and then had a early bedtime.  We did go to Fantasmic one evening and I had the kids nap that day.

Previously, we used their carseats on the plane when we flew to Florida for my brother's wedding when kids were 2.5.  We used the carseats in the rented car after that.

    Have fun!

  • If they're not quite 2 yet, go now! You can do lap seats if you want, and entrance into all the parks are still free for them! We went with our singleton (twins are still inside babies) but if you're bringing any car seats, etc, rent one of the carts at the airport. If you have a stroller you like, bring it with, use it in the airport, and gate check it. Then you'll have it and you'll have a child containment system for the airport. Depending on where you stay, a lot of hotels have shuttles. If that's the case, you might not need a car/car seats. But you have to be OK with being confined to the places and schedule that the shuttles go. If the kids were in their own seats on the plane, I'd probably take the car seats and use them in the plane.... but I'm suspicious of rental car seats. FYI in Disney and Sea World, the strollers are almost more of a stuff holder than a kid holder. The only places you can bring strollers into are gift shops and restaurants.

We went to disneyland last year when they were just over 1, DD was 4. We drove so car seats weren't an issue. But we took our big stroller. It was kind of a pain to take them out and break it down to get on the monerail, but other than that it was fine.
We also took my parents and sister for help, highly recommended!
When they were 8 months old we flew with just the two of us and all 3 kids to Kauai. I reserved seats in the very back of the plane, and we ended up having the whole area to ourselves. The kids could make noise, and move around. Plus the engine noise helped them sleep. As an added bonus all the flight attendants hanging out in the back of the plane helped by holding them and playing with them for much of the flight. We brought the car seats. Even though we didn't buy the kids their own seats, since there was room we were able to use them. If it turns out the plane is full you can check them at the gate at the last minute.
A disney tip: Disney will let you and another adult take turns holding small kids while you ride the adult rides, without losing you place or having to wait in line twice. You just ask for a pass at the start of the line, and the baby holder meets you at the exit with the baby. Older kids get to ride twice, once with each parent.
