Spraying the house?

This might seem like a really silly question, but, is it safe to have your house sprayed/exterminated while pregnant? Or is there a point in the pregnancy where it becomes not safe?
Sorry if this has been asked but I couldn't find it when searching through the pp!

Re: Spraying the house?

  • I don't think it is technically unsafe - but I still make Mister do it and make sure I am gone for as long as possible. That's Mister work!

  • I agree, I did not do it myself if I had anyone else to do it and I usually tried to stay away until it was dry.

  • I also have my house sprayed quarterly the initial visit was indoor spraying and I was assured it was safe once dry now it's only outside the perimeter of the house.... I just moved everything (DS toys away) and waiting 24 to be safe to let them crawl around... Much better than water

  • My work is sprayed routinely, which bothers me, but I just leave when it is being done. We only spray around the outside of the house once in the spring and once in the fall and it is DHs job (whether I'm pregnant or not) so I will make sure to be out of the house when he does it in a month or two. I'm sure it isn't "good" for any of us, let alone the baby, and if I was still in 1st tri, I would proably have him skip it, but I also don't think it will be life altering either way. Whether we like it or not we are exposed to all kinds of chemicals that we can't control from farmers spraying their crops or cities spraying for mosquitos.

  • We have our house sprayed quarterly as well (southern living) and I just go shopping while it's being done. I've been assured by my OB and the company that it is safe once it dries which is within an hour.
