BR mamas: Anyone use a wheelchair?

So DH and DS are going out tomorrow for a couple hours. I'm going stir crazy and DH thought of pushing me around in a wheelchair so I can get out but be still at the same time.

Has anyone else done this? I know when I was pregnant with my son I frequently used the electric scooters in grocery stores. I'm guessing a call to my doctor may be in order to confirm.

Re: BR mamas: Anyone use a wheelchair?

  • When I was on hospital bed rest, I was allowed a wheelchair for 30 minutes a day- DH took me for a ride so I wasn't just stuck in the room all day!

Call your doctor to check though- I know some girls on my hall weren't allowed wheelchair privileges.

  • I think it would depend on whether your bed rest is supposed to be lying down, or whether your doctor is ok with you sitting up for periods of time.

I can sit up for periods of time with no issues, so we used a wheelchair at the hospital for the childbirth classes.  That way I could attend, but not have to walk around much.

This is a good idea though for getting out of house.  If dh didn't hate shopping so much, I would have to suggest it to him.
  • I'm not on strict bedrest where I have to lay down all day. I can sit up for periods of time. My doctor explained to me it's the princess treatment. I said well there is nothing glamorous about bedrest. Lol.
