I know there are a lot of bed rest momma's here but are any of you stuck at the hospital for your bed rest? I am currently 28 weeks and was admitted to the hospital yesterday, I am told I will not be leaving until after baby is born so to settle in for as long of a stay as possible. I am worried about baby a lot and I know that this is what is best for him and for me so I will be the best patient I can. But I also am really freaked out about all of the things that I left undone at home and with my business. Has anyone had to cope with completely leaving your life behind for who knows how long? And any tips for making a hospital room feel more like home?
Re: Bed Rest at the hospital anyone?
I find that wearing my own clothes and bringing tolietries helps me while admitted. It's also key to have good pillows and a soft towel from home.
Can you sit up at all? One idea could be making some sort of art project to decorate your hospital room- maybe a count down to the next big milestone? I made a mobile for DS's during the beginning of my bedrest. I cut out all these whale shapes and then threaded them onto fishing line. I love the way it turned out.
Come join us on the bedrest check in! Stay put LO!!

I agree with PP- definitely bring your own toiletries and clothing! (Or... Have someone bring them for you) It makes a huge difference. If you can, have someone bring you a project- I worked on knitting a blanket for DS while I was hanging out.
If LO is born early- you don't really need anything in the NICU for him. Really all you HAVE to have when he comes home is diapers, wipes, a car seat, and a place for him to sleep. Everything else you can get when he's already home. Don't worry about the stuff you don't have ready and the stuff you've left undone. Right now, just worry about keeping LO in as long as possible!
I was able to get a wheelchair from the nurses and DH could take me on a ride for about 30 minutes a day- see if that's an option for you!
Also, ask if you can tour the NICU and have a charge nurse talk to you about the NICU process. I know it's hard to think about, but I knew he was coming early and we were just waiting, and it helped me to talk to his future nurses and see where he would be.
If you're worried about things getting ready - do some online shopping! Make some lists and hit up some websites.
Hang in there!
Ditto PP on wearing your own clothes, using your own toiletries, etc. I also had a friend bring me books from the library to read.

There are great stories about babies born at all different gestations. 28 weeks is a big deal, so glad you're there! The preemie board was an awesome resource as well. Once baby is born consider giving friends/family this link: https://preemiemomblog.blogspot.com/p/what-can-i-do-for-my-friend.html
Thinking about you, T&P for more time!
