Mattress on floor opinion

Hi ladies. I'm planning to get rid of the crib. My almost one year old never cared for it so we've been cosleeping. I'd like to do the mattress on the floor of his room. My question is should I just use the crib mattress or buy a twin mattress? Thank you!

  • Are you going to ever lay down with him on the bed? If so, get a mattress big enough for you both to be comfortable on if you fall asleep too. :)

  • We use a double futon mattress on the floor of DD's room and it works really well for us. I would highly recommend getting on big enough that you can lay down too, it really helps us with getting DD back to sleep when she wakes.

This! I sleep with DS part of the night and am comfy and get good sleep because he's on a twin. This will be his mattress until it gives out. ;)

We use a full size mattress. I'd definitely go with something bigger than crib.

  • Our daughter is about 2 now. I've been squeezing into her toddler bed. Omg. I just bought a twin for her room and can't wait for it to arrive. Do it now :) don't suffer like me.

Eventually try to get a frame or something to get mattress off the floor. I heard it can cause mildew.
