Crazy active at 39 weeks. Normal?

For all you new mommies and fellow mommies in waiting, have you ever experienced a period of crazy nonstop movement of your baby? I know these final weeks they start to quiet down a bit (which has happened) but tonight for some reason, he is just bouncing all around. Anyone else experience(d) this? It's been going on for about 3 hours now and I have no idea what to think. I'm 39w 3d so I'm not sure if he's starting to get ready for arrival. I never went into labor naturally with DD due to pre eclampsia so this is all new to me.

Mine beat the hell out of me until the end. The movements still included kicks and punches even in between contractions. Maybe you ate something sugary.

My LO still goes at it, although I do notice marked periods of quiet, too. But there are least two times per day when she goes absolutely nuts and I almost can't handle it because she's so strong and the movements are so fierce. Especially when she hits a nerve that shoots straight down my vagina. It had me in tears the other night. But then when she's quiet I miss her!

mine has been crazy, my doc said some quiet down towards the end, some don't. Mine is in the latter category. I am bruised on my belly button and on my right side where my ribs are. 4pm and 10:30 pm seem to be her favorite times of attack.
