My boss and I agreed I'd take off 12 weeks after the birth of the baby but then DS was born 11 days past EDD (as babies sometimes do) and now my boss says I need to come back in time for an out of town conference which means Baby will be 10 weeks when I go back. I do not want to give up those 2 weeks!
I'm hoping to negotiate with him but he's being pretty firm about it. I'm going to check in with hr to see if this is allowed. I'm super bummed. Ugh! Anyone else have the "deal" change after baby was born? What did you do about it?
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!
Mom to Lily and Colin!
Re: Return to work vent
I hope that you get those two weeks, I would be super bummed if I didn't get the time I was promised.
@KatyBriggs weird that they did the day after you requested but glad you got it figured out.
I have a huge vent about my leave. I told work at 10 weeks pregnant that I would be taking all 12 weeks of leave. I had to ask about the paperwork for my short term disability 5x before I received it and it turned out to be the wrong papers. Then they told me I had to pay all my health care premiums before I went on leave ( the told me this at 36 weeks pregnant) and they said they would use my PTO to pay it. I told them I didn't want to use my PTO because I wanted to have it when I came back in case my kids got sick. She said they just changed the policy and put it in the handbook ( I looked and it is not in there) So i complained to the head of HR and they agreed they will not take my PTO because I was misinformed.
I told them it wasn't in their hand book and their response was "we must have forgot to put it in the handbook but it's the policy"... Um not ok. So I ended up winning that war but not without fighting them on it.
I swear that companies make it so they make you feel guilty for having a baby and taking time off to heal and bond with them. Grr
