Amazon Mom vs. Amazon Prime

Hi ladies-- sorry if this is a repost, feel free to point me in the right direction if it is!

I am just trying to find out if anyone knows the difference between Amazon Mom and Amazon Prime? I've read into it and they seem like the same thing or it seems like you get Amazon Prime with Amazon Mom? I want to sign up but am confused which option to pick!

Any experience would be great to hear about!! Thanks.

Re: Amazon Mom vs. Amazon Prime

  • Amazon Prime is an annual fee to get you free 2 day shipping on anything that says "prime" on it. It also gives you access to a bunch of free movies/shows on demand to stream.
    I also signed up for Amazon Mom. It's free. (Prime is $99/yr. Or $80 but increasing to $99 so said my email from just this morning) I really haven't used it too much but I do get emails about different discounts/coupons offered through it. And there are various discounts for certain subscription items (like wipes, diapers...)
    If you buy a lot from Amazon, I recommend Prime just for the savings on shipping. It also allows you to invite others to use the prime shipping benefits as well. For instance my brother and my kids are able to get the free 2 day shipping under my account. Only the actual account holder gets the Prime Video benefit though. Hope that helps.

    It doesn't matter which way you sign up, if you buy the regular Amazon Prime membership, all you have to do is sign up for the Amazon Mom deals too (it's free to add on).  Or you could buy the Amazon Mom membership, which is basically the regular Prime membership, just pre set up to get you the Amazon Mom deals.

  • It's almost the same thing. With Amazon Prime, you instantly can opt in (for free) to Amazon Mom. That includes 2 day shipping, all the streaming options, discounts on Amazon products, the 10-20% household goods and diapers, and there is a yearly cost. With Amazon Mom, you automatically get 3 free months of Prime, but have to opt out if you don't want to be charged. You do not get free shipping on anything but diapers and household goods, you get the Amazon Mom discount, and once Prime is over you have no access to their shows/moves/etc.

    We chose to do Prime, and added Amazon Mom. Just the free shipping alone has already paid for our membership. And we constantly stream shows on our XBOX, so it's been worth it.

  • I LOVE amazon prime!! I signed up when my daughter was born two and a half years ago and it has been so worth it. It drives my DH crazy as he's very frugal but I refuse to give it up! The two day shipping is amazing and pays for the membership by itself, plus all the free shows, movies and kindle books. It's very conveinent to shop for baby stuff, gifts etc online and have them show up two days later when you have a little one and don't feel like dragging yourself out of the house - or live like we do in the middle of nowhere with limited shopping options. We also buy a lot of our cloth diapers and supplies on amazon! Ok I'm done :)

  • I'm an amazon prime member anyway, so I signed up for the free amazon mom membership. I love 2-day free shipping with prime and use it all the time. I was wondering if anyone here used amazon mom for diapers and baby things and how they felt about it.

  • I have Prime.  I used to have Amazon Mom but stopped using it when I realized that Target diapers were still cheaper than most of what I could get at 20% off using my Amazon Mom subscribe and save. Basically, it's all the same thing but they stuck the Mom on their to make it sound more appealing so that more women would sign up.  In my mind, it's a marketing tactic.  There are certain deals they offer, but I've always had luck with sale items on amazon anyway.  We use the prime membership for the free 2 day shipping (make sure it says Prime Eligible) and occasionally watch shows/movies on it.

  • If I'm right I don't think that amazon mom only will get you the streaming videos. That being said...I love my prime!
  • I have prime and find it to be so worth it!  I ordered shaving cream the other day because I was to lazy to go to the store...seriously.  My understanding of Amazon Mom (from a friend who signed up for it) is that the membership is free for the first 3 months then you pay the same as prime.  You can sign up for Mom if you have prime and still get all the discounts.  If you're going to sing up I would do it soon so you don't have to pay the increased price!

    Also, something I just learned today is that you can share your Prime account with up to 4 other people, something to consider, esp if those people will split the cost of membership with you!
  • @Lilygrace48‌ - Thanks, I was wondering exactly that!

    @jtaylor199‌ I didn't know that about the 4 people. That's pretty nice!
