PT referral

My girls are having a PT consult next week for some gross motor delays (not pushing up when on stomach, not liking to lift heads on stomach). We're being proactive about PT, but I guess I'm just wondering if PT actually helped improve delays in your situations?

Re: PT referral

  • Yes, all therapies have helped IMO. Both my boys received PT from the time they came home at 2m actual until they were 9m actual. Then my oldest received ST from 19m to 23m. We learned a lot of tricks from the therapists that helped us help the boys.

One of my boys has PT for exercises to improve his range of motion-- he has a flat spot on his head and they think he may have torticolus(sp?). The boys both see an OT as well. I have noticed some improvement in pushing up, rolling over so I think one or both services are helping.. They gave us a lot of ideas and strategies for tummy time as one of the twins absolutely hated tummy time and would just cry!

  • Thank you all for your responses. I'm just being a worrier, but it helps to hear that PT has been beneficial.

  • PT has been beneficial for us too!  She started with PT due to torticollis around 3-4 months actual.  That has now resolved but we plan to stick with PT until at least a year actual.  Her therapist would like to see her mobile and catching up with gross motor.  The strategies they give you are really helpful.  Our little girl has progressed very nicely with PT.
