TTC After a Loss

Anyone here who has had Chorio?

I posted this on the Loss board, but figured I would try here as well.  I'm curious to see if anyone has had a pregnancy end due to Chorio?  My doctors believe that is what ultimately started my PTL (although, we'll never know for sure: chicken and egg situation).  I definitely had it, as it was found in both Conner and Ben's placentas and in Benjamin's umbilical cord.  I'm on the verge of TTC again with another FET cycle sometime this spring or early summer, but I am terrified because the stakes are higher now.  I've noticed that few people here mention Chorio, which is understandable since it is so rare.  Just hoping to reach out to anyone else who has had it.

  • Not me, but I'm sorry for your loss. I'm not completely sure, but I think @pinkcamino knows something about this? Maybe she can help? And if not, I'm sure she knows some one who can! (((Hugs)))

My doctors chose to induce me before I developed it. What's your plan going forward? Are you getting a cerclage?

@KristinDMiller‌ if I remember correctly - and she created a social group for chorioamnionitus victims.

ETA - if you search "chorio" on the search boards function you will see a lot of posts from other bump members who had that dx.

  • @snedge Rude? No. I read the op and she wanted to know who had been there... I thought pink could help. I don't hold grudges

@almostamissus - chorio is pretty rare. I'm impressed that you knew Pink had personal experience with that!

@ikrystal - have you met with a MFM? I know that after my loss, the consult with a MFM to set a game plan for any future pregnancies made me feel better. ((((hugs))))

@buggirl72‌ I gathered it was pretty rare when pink mentioned it previously. I never asked, because things got silly between us, but I had issues in pregnancy #1 and wondered if it was related to what she had discussed. So I guess it stuck with me.
Hope the op is able to find some commonality here.

I am equally impressed. She's been here for what - 2 weeks or so? I wonder if she knows detailed information about anyone else.

  • I've had Chorio too.  I delivered my daughter at 21 weeks due to Chorio.  The infection began and I went into labor on 2/15/14, she was born 2/17/14 and passed away.  It is rare but from what I am reading there is an increased chance of getting it again, although doctors have told me it's more than likely I will have a normal pregnancy once we start TTC.  It is still a scary situation though.  It was the hardest part of my life.
  • @pinkcamino - no cerclage for me.  I'm not a candidate.  They ruled out IC because I labored for hours before I was fully dilated.  My doctors all think that the infection was the cause of the PTL and not a result of, especially because my water did not break on its own.  They are putting me on 17p shots for the next pregnancy and measuring my cervix every week.  A team of doctors all agreed that IC was not an issue.  I was almost hoping it was so that I could get the cerclage, because right now I feel so helpless.

@buggirl72 - I met with the MFM who treated me in the hospital.  I love her - she is an amazing doctor, but she pretty much told me that I have to roll the dice for the next pregnancy.  17p shots are a precaution but she doesn't think they'll do much for me, and she also ruled out cerclage.  Here's hoping lightening won't strike twice...

Thanks to everyone for the responses :)  Maybe @kristindmiller 's social group will have more people in it
