My daughter had her 1 month appointment on Monday. She has been nursing anywhere from every 1.5 hours to 4 hours. During the day, she will go longer stretches. I told the doctor this and he said if she is going 3-4 hours during the day, she should be able to at night. He said when she is fussy to try other things like cuddling or a paci before feeding her. If she calms down then she's not really hungry. I'm torn about this because she sometimes will only eat 6 times in a day. I don't want to wait until she's screaming to feed her, but I don't want to overfeed her either. The doctor said she's probably spitting up so much because she is overeating. Any advice? Thank you
Re: 1 month old nursing
It's practically impossible to overfeed a breastfed baby. It's just not same as bottle feeding, where the milk/formula just runs down the throat. Also night feeding is totally normal, especially at 1 month.
