Are these contractions?

I have this low rumbling, overall cramping feeling like I'm about to start my period. I should know the difference, but I'm just still learning about what these are. I've had them on & off since last night. Going to see the dr this afternoon, but I'm wondering if I need to be seen sooner. Thoughts?

    My OB always tells me with twins, you simply don't know, so if you suspect contractions (4+ per hour for a couple hours) go in.  You may want to call your dr because if you ARE having contractions, they may rather you go to L&D rather than the office. They may not have the means to monitor contractions at the office.

    I'd call the dr's office.  My contractions were never like a crampy period or rumbling feeling.  Hang in there and keep us posted.

    I never really had a rumbling feeling. But I've gone into labor 3 times, and it always started off feeling like period cramps, that slowly became regular and intermittent. Wishing you well!
