Soaking through overnight diapers every night, suggestions?

DS woke up soaked two mornings last week, I have no idea how he didn't wake himself up during the night from being so wet, but I felt SO bad for him. I did a little research and decided to try buying the overnight diapers in a size bigger than usual. They're comically huge on him, but from what I read it had worked for some moms. Well we tried that last night and he woke up soaked through again last night. Other than waking him up once a night to change his diaper, I'm not sure what else to do? Any suggestions?

We have the same issues. My routine is putting him in his pack n play when he was ready for bed, then changing him before putting him in his crib at my bed time. We use huggies overnights in size 6, but my son is about outgrown of size 6's. Does he sleep on his tummy? We use Honest diapers normally but have to use the Huggies overnights at night in one size bigger. Also, my DS is a tummy sleeper so I pull the diaper up really high in the front and triple-check that it is put on the best I can before putting him to bed, around the legs and everything. It seems to help about 80% of the time.

We did try going up a size, no luck and yup hes a total belly sleeper and is all over the crib. I think we'll have to try two next!

Same issue here so i tried the pampers "baby dry". its been great and havent hav=d any issues.

Would you consider trying cloth? We use pocket diapers with a hemp insert. Hemp is amazingly absorbent!
When I started cloth, I bought from Kelly's Closet (online) because they have a 30 day try it out option. If its not for you, send it back! We've never had an overnight leak, even when dd diapers feel like half her body weight, lol

we use huggies overnights w/ a maxi pad (adult, overnight) inside and for awhile he was still leaking through but now he's fine.

Are you sure he'll wake up if you change him in the middle of the night? I'd at least try it.

My little guy does the same, and we talked to our doctor about it. The only thing that has helped is to feed him his supper (he is 10 months old today) and a bottle right after that at 6:30 and then skipping the bottle before bed. Basically, had to cut back on amount of formula we were giving him.

This. We use Huggies overnights and then I put one of these (in 2T) on over the diaper and make sure the front of it is high over his tummy. Ever since we started doing this, he usually stays dry unless the training pants moves down.

I never thought to try those training pants, we did go up a size in the overnighters, it helps for the most part but we still get some soak throughs. The training pants seem like they'll definately help maybe even during the day to avoid blowouts!

Overnight diapers never worked for us, I ended up thinking they were a joke, a gimmick! We ended up trying her regular diapers in the next size up (overnight next size up didn't work), and they work! We get the chlorine-free store brand diapers. We tried Seventh Generation, and they leaked constantly. Then we tried Earth's Best, and they worked great! Another mom suggested trying the earth friendly chlorine free store diapers. I was a little hesitant, but tried them. They ended up being the best diapers we've ever used! They're $6-10, depending on which store, as opposed to our $18 Earth's Best diapers. We've only had about 2-3 leaks overnight, and that's because I put them on too early, or because it was time to move to the next size up.

We had the same problem. Tried everything, bigger diapers/all kinds/overnights.
What ended up working for us were maxi pads. Yes, for periods. We put them in a regular size overnight diaper and it works great. Only once in a great while does he pee through.

We do make three holes at the bottom of the pad so the pee leaks through to the diaper too.

Glad i'm not the only one who does this

I do the same for my daughter. Pull up more in the front since she's a tummy sleeper. I've found that if my daughter has a lot of water before bedtime that contributes to her soaking through as well!
