DS telling me after he goes

I am having a hard time pting DS. He is 2 1/2 he started telling me that he needs a diaper after he pees or poops. I put him in regular underwear but he still goes and it doesn't seem to bother him. I hope someone has some advice and can help lead me in the right direction. TIA

    We did the thick Gerber training pants with dappi diaper covers for a week with DD, showed her how to get them up and down and left a potty seat in the playroom so she could get to it fast. After the week she'd stop peeing just as soon as she'd start and run to use the potty instead. She just wears the underwear around the house now.
