Pregnancy hormones are a total bitch. Now, they have caused the skin under my boobs to become irritated; it's red, raw, itchy, flaky and broken out. I have never had sensitive skin in my life, now something (the soap I'm using, my detergent, my bra's material?.. sweat??) has caused a rash under my boobs and it hurts like hell. Talcum powder, no bra and diaper rash cream until I can get it to go away, I guess. How aggravating. Like I need one more thing going on to make me uncomfortable. Great.
If it were, how would I know, and would I treat it differently- than with talcum and diaper rash cream?
Yes, it would be treated differently.
Sorry if this is TMI but one time post-partum my sensitive eczema-prone skin got irritated and cracked on both breasts (DS had bad latch issues initially) then had mastitis and a suspected fungal infection set in on top of that. It was horrendous. My OB prescribed a cream that cleared things up quickly.

I'll keep an eye out and see if what I am doing seems to work or not, if it doesn't get better, then I'll suspect yeast and I guess have to try some anti-fungal cream, and/or call Dr... blah.
I've had this problem even before I got pregnant. I am pretty well endowed in the boob area so sometimes underneath gets too sweaty I guess and I get that same red achy rash. I squirt some diaper rash cream on it and by morning it's usually cleared up.
I am large breasted and this happens to me in the summer sometimes. I use diluted tea tree and it works great. Not sure if that's safe during pregnancy though.
Thought I might suggest Aquaphor. You can pick up a small tube from Walgreens for under $5. My girlfriend suggested it after I complained of such severe dry skin that extra moisturizing Lubriderm or even organic shea butter would help. She said she uses it on her sons scorisis. Works so well that he asks her for it.
I've been using it for a few weeks. When I use it, it helps.
I'm 39 weeks and I just got the under-breast rash. Because weight gain, stretch marks and puffy ankles weren't fun enough! The dr. looked at it and said to get an over the counter cortisone cream. I've been using that and the bumps have gone done quite a bit in just one day, and it's still red and irritated, but getting better. My dr. said that it's just from heat/sweat/a further curse on the well-endowed. Hang in there!
Re: You have GOT to be kidding me!?! (WARNING! There is bitching in this thread!)
