OB predictions?

So my OB predicted that she felt pretty strongly that I won't make it until my appointment next week? I thought for sure I would be late since I have only felt braxton hicks at this point with no other signs of pre labor even being close. I know better then to give cervex details and they don't mean shit anyway, but I'm pretty far and she also said she could feel my waters bulging?!?! I'm not sure how much I should read into this, but I have to admit that was kinda my shit is getting real moment...

Re: OB predictions?

  • My dr is also predicting ill go early. The baby is measuring at 8lbs, and although we all know this could be and probably will be off, He is leaning in the "greater than" direction. He made a point of saying babies that size don't wait until their due date. We shall see!

My first pregnancy my doctor predicted I wouldn't make it to my appointment next week (keep in mind I was at 5 cm with no contractions). Well 6 days passed and I was ready to tell her the next day she was wrong. That night my water broke and baby girl was born the next day. So technically she was right in the fact I went exactly one week and not past.

This pregnancy my doctor checked me that morning and said "see you next week!". I went into labor that evening.

  • My doctor predicted I wouldn't make it to my 39 week appt and here I am past due. So I wouldn't necessarily get your hopes up.

  • If your bag is bulging that says way more than how dilated you are. But babies do their own thing.

Didn't we just do a post just like this?

Yes. I started it, in fact!

Eta: my OB predicted last Friday that I'd deliver next weekend (this coming weekend). Well, I delivered Monday. Close enough. Just glad I didn't go past her prediction or I'd had to smack a bitch. :)

  • My OB with DD (I was on bedrest due to several issues) predicted I'd deliver by 32 weeks, then 35, 37, 38... And she was completely flabbergasted when I hit nearly 42 weeks.

My OB with DS said 'see you next week' at every appointment. He was born at 41 weeks.

  • The only prediction my dr made was when I called at 3am telling him I was having contractions. He said ok you aren't going to make it to your scheduled dated (which was the following day)...because you are 39 weeks and we will just do the c/s today. I'm thankful they didn't try to predict before that as it would have just made me think every little thing was the beginning when it really could have been nothing.
  • No one knows, not even an OB.  At my 38 week appt my OB made little remarks that hinted at having the baby that week; well, yesterday I was there for my 39 week appointment.  When the OB (a different one) asked me yesterday whether I was getting excited, I responded that I know this could potentially go on for two more weeks (or even a little longer), so I wasn't getting my hopes up; if she comes before that I'll just be pleasantly surprised.  He said that was smart, LOL.  I mean, really, who knows?  Better just to put it out of mind and let it happen when it happens.  It's not like this can go on forever - there IS an end in sight!

  • My doctor keeps saying "it'll be sooner rather than later now!" to which I silently think "well dear God I hope so...I'm 39 1/2 weeks...if it is later rather than sooner, somebody really messed up some measurements along the way..."
