Transistion from bottle

Hello ladies..I'm Jaime. My DD will be one on April 5. I started giving her a sippy cup at four months and she occasionally used it. From 8 months on all she wants to do is chew on it. I have tried 6 different kinds. I don't want to be going to college with her feeding her a bottle (exaggeration lol..but she really won't hold her own bottle ) did anyone's LOs have a hard transistion off of bottles what did you do?

Re: Transistion from bottle

  • Have you tried a straw cup? My LO would never do regular sippy cups, but he figured out the straws pretty quickly since he was used to sucking on pouch foods (I'd sometimes use them for snacks and meals when we were on to go).

  • My DS was pretty terrible with sippies at first too. It wasn't until after his first bday that he started using them well. I didn't even bother trying to transition him off his bottle until he was about 14-15 months old and now at 18 months, bottles are completely gone.  I use Munchkin Mighty Grip sippies and it's the only kind he's really very good with. If I try to give him one with a harder spout, he makes a huge mess. He also likes his straw cup (I use the same kind as his sippy just with the straw lid) and actually makes even less of a mess with them bc the spill proof works better IMO. Just give it time and don't worry about transitioning right away if she doesn't have the hang of it.
