I know you're supposed to divide the number of feeds by 25 to get the average amount eaten during each feed. But what about when she cluster feeds in the evening?
If she eats every 3 hours during the day but then eats 3 times in a 2 hour period in the evening that it about 8 feeds. But there's no way she's eating 3 whole ounces every time during the cluster feeding period right?
Re: Amount per feed question
if you're trying to calculate for when you go back to work, it does take a little trial and error. I wouls suggest leaving your day care provider with some extra bags of frozen milk as a backup-- give them a few bags with 1 oz in each.
when I went back to work, my DS was 12 weeks, and he took 3, 4-oz bottles during the workday. when he got a little older, we increased it to 3, 4 1/2 or 5 oz bottles.
