Cramps

I have had moderate menstral like cramps for the past week. Anyone know if this is normal? I'm 36w3d. I have a doctors appt tomorrow which I will ask, I'm bored and thought I'd ask here right now lol

Re: Cramps

  • FTM so I dunno if it's normal. I probably would have called after having them for a few days though...not a whole week. But I'm kinda paranoid..

  • I've also been getting them the last couple weeks. My dr said it's normal.
  • At this point, all pains and cramps can be "normal." If they get stronger, closer, harder and you have to breathe through them, it's time to call the Dr.

  • I'm 36wk+4 and am in the same boat. Period type cramps for a week or more... Sometimes wake me up. Dr checked today... Said I'm fine. Not dilated at all.
  • I have had them too, my dr said it's from the muscles stretching as the baby drops lower into the birth canal. It makes sense but it sure doesn't make them feel any better!
  • (Most likely) normal.

  • Totally normal. I've seen the midwife twice since mind started at 36 weeks last Tuesday. I'm measuring a few weeks behind on fundal height so have ultrasounds and all looks good. Baby is about 6 lbs or so too. Until the come in intervals you can time it's just your body getting ready.

Im paranoid I won't know when until they are really bad!!! With my son my water broke first so it was obvious. Just listen to your body.

They are small contractions and totally normal. I had a NST (non stress test) yesterday. They hook you up to all kinds of monitors and basically see how it's going in there. Every time I felt a mild menstrual cramp the machine would record a contraction. It was really kinda cool to see. I asked the nurse about it and she said the uterus is a muscle and it's just working out or preparing for the big day. She said not to worry, real contractions feel way more intense- you'll know the difference.
