6 week old unlatching prematurely

My LO will be 6 weeks tomorrow. I have had an over active letdown, but this seems different than that. He will only nurse about 5 minutes then either fall asleep or cry, then if I hold him long enough he'll root again, but just gum my nipple for a while. Sometimes I get him to relatch, sometimes I can't. If I put him down to sleep, he wakes up in a half hour or hour to eat again.
He also has a temperature of 99, but the doctor said not to worry about it until it's over 100.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

    Thanks @jnetx‌ i just worried about the frequency because he has been going up to 4 hours between feeds the past week or so and only occasionally every 1 1/2 hours

    I agree with jnetx. You should always observe for weight gain/loss and dirty diapers. Growth spurts also happen around this time. Just continue to nurse him if he gives you signs that he is hungry.
