Loud sleeper

Does anyone else have a loud sleeper? My daughter fusses all night long. We went to her 1 month appointment yesterday and the pedi said to leave her unless she's crying. He said "she'll let you know if she's hungry". I feel so bad leaving her when she's fussing, but she falls right asleep as soon as I pick her up.

Re: Loud sleeper

  • Yes. Headphones with soft music or else i would keep picking the LO up. But you may want to follow her hunger cues first before she starts fully crying.

  • Both of my girls are/were loud sleepers. DD#2 is 7 weeks old. She grunts and makes little, mild cries after night time feedings. These can last up to a half hour. She's asleep when she does this. If I pick her up, she'll settle down. However, as soon as I lay her down, it starts again. It's almost as if she has to do it to put herself into a deeper sleep. Like PPs her noises are different when she's hungry etc.

  • When did you begin to learn what is a hunger cry vs a sleep cry/fuss? I feel so bad leaving her to fuss, but if I pick her up she falls asleep in my arms instantly.
  • Ours grunts, squirms and "talks" almost the entire time he is asleep. He calms down pretty fast just by laying our hand across his chest. It's when he gets really quiet that catches our attention now.

He gets louder and more active while he is trying to wake up to eat and we can tell the difference in the noises and actions.

You'll learn all your babies noises quickly and what they mean. It just takes a little time.
Proud 40 year old, first time daddy!
