May 2014 mom here - inquiry for TX moms

I'm a May 2014 mom and wondering what you ladies had the baby wear to come home in from the hospital in May?  I'm not sure how warm/cool to dress a baby in Texas (Houston) heat.

  • I'm in the New Orleans area and DS was born in early May. We brought him home in a footed cotton sleeper. It was late afternoon/early evening when we brought him home plus it was raining, so it may have been a little cooler than normal.

  • I'm not a Texas mom but we did a cotton sleeper too. And put a receiving blanket over the carseat cause it was quite windy that day.

  • I'm from Texas and I had dd in light long sleeved gown. It was like high 70's low 80's the day we left the hospital.

  • I'm in TX, LO was born in SA. I took her home in a cotton footie sleeper. You will only be outside for a short time, and my DH had the car on and cooled down when they wheeled us out. No blankets on her, either.

I didn't bother with any fancy coming home outfit, I wanted her to be comfortable.

  • My DD was born 05/08 South of Houston. We also had her were a long sleeved cotton sleep and play (light weight) Every place down here seems to have the AC blasting, so I wanted her skin to be covered.

  • My LO was born May 22nd and went home in a cotton long sleeve onsie. He would have been fine in something lighter. Like pp said, they aren't really outdoors long, so it wasn't a big deal. We are located in N. TX.
  • H-town here. I did a cotton sleeper--mostly because my H refused to believe we were having a girl. It worked out OK though as I was so tired, and she was all squishy and cute (and crying) anyway.
