In those first few months I think I would have killed for everything on that list. Except for the alcohol strips. My doc said as long as I was safe to drive I was safe to feed the baby. And honestly I didn't drink as much after birth as I thought I would. I was too busy sleeping, crying, and having a baby attached to my boob.
I will probably indulge much more liberally after this LO arrives.
This was me too. I was SO looking forward to my first beer after delivery, I had a friend bringing me an Octoberfest and everything. Then my taste buds went wacko and I couldn't even handle the thought of beer for several months. Even once I did enjoy it again, I was such a lightweight it took me 2.5 hours to finish one drink. Not exactly cause to worry about how much my kid was getting.
If you do some research on how much alcohol goes into your breast milk you really will put your mind at ease. If you are safe to drive you are safe to nurse, and there really is no need to pump and dump, breast milk doesn't "hold on to alcohol", once it's out of your bloodstream it's out of your milk.
Some other key factors you will learn about drinking after kids: First of all, when you are caring for a small child you want all your wits about you anyways and won't want more than 2 drinks. Second of all, you realize REALLY quickly that if you thought a hangover was bad before, a hangover when trying to care for a baby is 500 times worse.
Breast milk test strips totally belong on the do not bother list, in my humble second time mom breastfeeding beer loving opinion
Re: Registry Stress?
YES! Now I can't wait to have my first mojito straight outta the delivery room! ;-)
