Double stroller?

Cwhitaker27Cwhitaker27 member
edited March 2014 in Success after IF
For those who have multiple children what double stroller do you recommend? DH is pretty anti- double stroller. He thinks they are annoyingly big. Although, I'm not sure how he thinks we'll get around with a lazy toddler and infant haha!
I need to try to persuade him, so try to sell me on your preferred stroller.

Edited to add p.s.
I realize I might get a better response on another board but I trust you ladies most!

  • So, here's the thing about double strollers- are you a tandem girl or a
Side by side mom? With the twins, I had a tandem snap n go when they were in car sears and now have a BJ City Mini double GT. I LOVE my BJCM and it is a very popular stroller on the multiples board. It's also super easy to collapse and load in the car. I drive a 4 door sedan and it fits just fine in my trunk.

I do not like tandem strollers. They are long, hard to steer, and hard to get up on curbs because it's so heavy in the front. Plus, the baby in the back gets the shaft when it comes to view! They are also tricky to eat out with because they are so darn long! I much prefer a side by side, which is the width of a wheelchair. It will fit through most doors (and I think it's easier than a tandem because of the length), but it can be tricky to navigate aisles in some stores. When I know I'm going shopping in a small space, I ergo one of the boys and use an umbrella stroller for the other.

  • I love my Britax B-ready! It has a million configurations, you can check it out on the website. I don't have baby #2 just yet but I have used it as a double with my niece. It's great! Totally recommend it. I've used it with the bassinet, infant car seat, stroller seat attachment and two stroller seat attachments. So exciting to be thinking about! Congrats!

Originally I was thinking side by side but then I saw a graco one at babies r us that looked humongous! Whatever it is, it needs to be on the smaller side if at all possible since I have a 4 door Toyota corolla, so it can fit in the trunk, also with a smaller size I'll prob. Be able to persuade DH better. I think he thinks the tandems are more manageable.

I never thought of it until this moment but are most strollers universally able to accept any car seat? I have a graco car seat from when DS was little that we plan to use with #2.

Sorry, I'm pretty clueless at this point.

After looking it up I see that you can. Do feel that it's really a stroller you can utilize on a daily basis instead of just for travel?

  • We have no problem fitting the BJCM into our trunks (I drive a Sub Legacy, DH drives an Altima), but I couldn't fit the BJ City Select in there unless i messed with taking the seats off and I do not have time for that nonsense! I liked the Bob Dualie too, but those wheels looked too big (in all fairness, I didn't try to fit it into my car). I was also able to get the Mountain Buggy in there and that one is one of the super slim doubles.

I know BJ makes attachment bars for car seats and you just buy the one that is compatible with your brand of seat. Unfortunately, BJ sells all accessories desperately, but I've been able to get away with getting some of them on Amazon for a bit cheaper.

  • We got the graco quattro tour double stroller. I didn't get the graco double stroller they sell at Target because I needed the 5 point harness for both seats so I could strap in a fit pitching toddler when it was time to leave the park. (A sit n stand would not have worker for him.) This one also has sun shades (that work as rain shades for me in the PNW) for the front seat. I don't think the less expensive version had a shade for the front seat. Also the basket is deep enough that I could fit groceries in it. We sold our sentra before we got the stroller so I don't know if it fits in a trunk or not, but I can easily get it in just one side of our micro van with one seat down and DS1 sitting in the 3rd row. (if that makes sense.)

  • We got the Joovy Caboose because it was very affordable and it was smaller than a lot of true double strollers. It has the sit and stand, although there's not much room for the big kid to sit when the baby is still in the car seat. It works with our Chicco Keyfit. It's a little heavy, but they do sell a Joovy Ultralight which is more $$.

As long as you don't mind not having a storage basket big enough for a diaper bag. It has a basket but it's not huge like the city select.

I don't have a second child yet but I have the city select. What I love most about it is how versatile the seating is. Dh doesn't like it because it's a little heavy compared to the britax bagile stroller we had. And that stroller was very easy to open. But he likes it other wise. My only complaint is the same as his. But in the end it'll be great. Each seat can hold up to 45lbs each (90lbs total) and it's easy to move around and Azeem can sit/sleep in it so comfortably.

We just got the city select and DH and I both love it. My only complaints so far would be the same as the two mentioned above. I love that we can use it as a single and as a double.
