Does anyone have experience with this car seat? After some lengthy research and a trip to Buy Buy Baby, this seems like the best option for the back seat of my Volvo V50.
Its a great seat - it can be narrow in the shoulders and thus prevent long term use for bigger kids.. but it is a good seat.. quality. Have you checked out the nextfit, radian and or graco seats?
If you plan to do extended rear facing this seat isn't recommended because it has very little leg room while rear facing. The seats PP recommended are awesome.
I was going to post the same thing today! I was at Buy Buy Baby over the weekend planning to purchase a Britax Marathon, but have now reconsidered after seeing the Recaro and listening to the worker rave about it. Amazon has great reviews on it too... I'll be interested to hear what others have to say!
Just FYI, sales people love to rave about their most expensive seats. Do your own research ahead of time and don't listen to them at the store. Also, know that since 4 out of 5 people have their car seat installed wrong, you may want to take Amazon reviews with a grain of salt.
As a PPer said, the Recaro provides very little legroom for rear facing which is why many techs don't commonly recommend it.
We were 2 under 2, now 3 under 3!
Team Green turned Team Pink with #1, Team Green turned Team Blue with #2, Team Green turned Team Pink again with #3
careful with britax if your desire is to rear face for a while - they have shorter height shells..
I highly recommend car-seat.org or carseats for the littles (Fb group) to research more seats that are rear face worthy - at car-seat.org you can put in your car, make, model, year and rear facing and often get a ton of results.
I have the ProRide and LOVE IT! It is a larger car seat, but it fits fine in both of our cars. As far as the leg room goes, LO just puts his feet on the seat and doesn't make a peep about it. It's what he's used to.
We have the ProRide installed in DH's car. DD is very comfy in it, sleeps well with her head is good alignment when she falls asleep. DH loves how easy the buckles are for him to latch and unlatch. I love that DD is comfy and...not that this matters, but it is a very cool looking seat.
I have to agree about the size. The legroom is noticeably shorter than the Britax Pavilion I have in my car. DD is 20 months and I am just hoping she'll make it to 2 years old rear facing in either seat.
Other consideration is that the ProRide seems to sit up rather high so if your car is short on headroom for adults, you may find it harder to place LO in to the seat without bumping his head.
