I voted yes but I maybe wrong. We stored all our stuff at ILs when we moved. They have stinkbugs. So they may have come with our stuff in the move. We will know for sure if the weather ever warms up.

  • Yes they soooooo freak me out!!! I've never smushed one...do they really smell like cilantro ?

  • Wouldn't know one until it smacked with its stink in the face.

They seem like gross little fuckers.

  • @Dani428‌ I try not to squish them. I flush them! But yes they kinda smell like cilantro. Yuck!
  • YES, and they scare the ever loving shit out of me! I know its irrational since they dont bite and are pretty slow, but I am terrified of anything that can attack with stink while I am killing it! We saw one in the house a few days ago, but we had a TON of them back in October when I was on Maternity Leave, I literally cried like every day for two weeks!
  • I love cilantro and they don't smell like it at all to me. It's definitely a musty smell though. I hate how they fly so kamikaze and bump into stuff. I really hope they stay away.
  • D.h. saw one not too long ago here, but that's the only one ever here.  We had them ALL THE TIME at our old townhouse.
  • Crawling ALL over my house. What happened to the theory that the deep freeze would kill them all off?

We have still been finding live ones throughout the winter, and we've had a harsh winter.

I hate how the little fuckers come into my house just to die. I swear once a day I have to pick up their little corpses and flush them. Keep that shit outside!

I also hate how DH thought it would be funny to teach Riley (the younger dog) to attack them. If I can get them with a tissue, no stink. If Riley gets them first, stink everywhere (and I don't know she has one until I smell it).

I played a game one night (before Sully, so I had nothing better to do) where I grabbed a quart size mason jar and captured as many of them as I could off the back of the house and locked them up. It didn't take very long for the jar to get 1/3 full. :-&

They also eat my fresh veggies in my garden... assholes.
  • Yes and I HATE them!
  • Moved north, and now am stink bug-free! Woot!

How far north did you move, because I am in NJ and they are EVERYWHERE!

That's it, I'm moving to Canada!
  • What's a stink bug? I've got silverfishes... all year long and I hate those horrible things...

  • It depends where you are in Canada. I'm on the west coast and we don't have stink bugs here.

When I lived in the interior, there were always stink bugs everywhere. Apparently they're attracted to heat (they eat or lay eggs in pinecones or something so are attracted to heat signatures).

I don't care about them much one way or another, but it's gross that they're everywhere during the summer.

  • My 7yo SD is scared to death of them. Actually screams and cries if one gets close to her. 6yo SD has to come to her rescue and flush them for her.

I had never heard of them till I went to SIL's parents' house in Pennsylvania. Now they're suddenly in NY! My dad says they're moving up from the South. You can keep them!

  • Yes, they are so creepy! I'm sort of relieved other people get them too. I thought there was something wrong with my house.

  • There was just one on my pillow. Disgusting, nasty little thing.
  • DD1 flushed one down the toilet last week. If you seal the cracks around your screens and replace ones with wholes, it helps. We stink bug-proofed 2 yrs ago, time to do it again. Ants are a bigger problem here.
