My poor hair!!

Help!!.. My hair has started changing colour at the ends about 4 weeks ago and now it's turned to mega frizz. I'm to scared to even straighten my hair because it looks likes it's gonna just frizz even more and fall out!! I've never experienced this and had lovely long hair before pregnancy. Take the pregnancy 'bloom' skipped way past me :( has anyone else experienced this. Think I'm gonna have to get my hair cut short... Noooooo!!!!

Re: My poor hair!!

  • Oh forgot to add I've tried conditioner and have even got leave in conditioner and still not helping :( plus I'm not using no heat products ie no hair dryer or straighteners etc x

  • I don't think you need to cut it off. Just go in to see your hairdresser and talk it over with them. I bet they could recommend some solutions that do not involve cutting your hair short.

  • My hair is a disaster.  I didn't get the think hair, long nails, or pregnancy glow. My hair and nails are dry and brittle and my skin is rough and flaky.  Nothing has helped so far:(

Ever since I had DS last march my hair has been horrible. Falling out and now I have the end frizz too!! It's terrible. I just pull it up! And if I'm going out I'll straighten it and it doesn't look too bad. :/

Eta. My nails are horrible too. They are literally peeling. Oh the joys of pregnancy lol

  • I had to do a "trim" about 6wks ago. My hair is definitely falling out a lot more than usual but I have an ample amount of it so I don't mind at the moment. I had to get about 2.5" cut off to get it to look healthy and manageable.

Definitely talk to your stylists. Good luck!!

  • Thank you. This pregnancy sure is kicking my butt! I'm going to be brave and have a good trim and fingers crossed it improves :( once again thank you x
  • Since my hair is naturally curly I've tried all kinds of stuff to help with frizz. The one thing I've found that actually makes a difference is to do a deep condition once a week with coconut oil. Coat your dry hair with it, don't be afraid to really slather it on. Then put your hair up in a shower cap and let it sit for about a half hour. After that just wash out. I found that once a week worked for me but you could play around with how often you do it.
  • My hair has been frizzy off and in most of my life. I use garner nutrisse mouse and spray in gel. If I'm straightening my hair I spray the gel in as soon I get out of the shower before I even comb my hair, spritz the gel in, comb my hair so it pulls the gel thru, then straighten. It leaves my hair looking healthy but not greasy, just make sure you don't go overboard on the gel. I use mouse if I'm in a hurry and don't have time for straightening.

My hair hasn't been right since have DS almost 2 years ago.  After I had him, then a bunch fell out, I almost got bald spots, then it stopped for a while, they my hair started growing in BLACK (it's naturally a light brown), then started falling out again after weaning at 11 months.  I still have so many baby and wispy hairs.
  • This totally happened to me when I was pregnant with my son.  He changed my hair like it was nobody'as business.  The ends were all dead and frizzy beyond belief. I used all different treatments, coconut oil, VO5 hot oil, and deep conditioners etc... I used frizease (seemed to help a bit).  I now use Wen a little expensive but def. works.  I also don't wash my hair or use hot tools on it everyday (mainly wash every other day and blow dry when I wash only).  I use Chi spary on my hair when blow drying and I switch up between the Wen and Frizease when washing my hair so one doesn't get used more then the other.  My hair is still not 100% and my son is 21 months I did recently cut it (short because I've been talking about it for a while now) and it seemed to help more then I anything.  Once you have your LO your hair may go back to the way it was things like this I hear happen.  I'm sorry this happened I can understand how frustrating it is.  Hope some of my routines helped or offered any advice in anyway ;)

  • Buy a 100% silk pillowcase. You will be shocked at how much healthier your hair gets. I also always say the less you wash, the better. It takes training your hair (and lots of dry shampoo on the roots) but after awhile, it works wonders. And I am a coconut oil user myself...I pretty much use it for everything.

    +1

Also going to recommend a hair appointment, maybe a trim will help.

No sulfates, rinse with cool water, use a cotton t-shirt, NO terry cloth or regular towel.
  • I'd talk to a professional hair stylist.

My hair is ok but I wish I had the nice strong nails.

  • I have been getting my hair glossed monthly to stop the damage from spreading, my hairdresser said it's very common w pregnancy. I also use redken diamond oil treatments it's a deep conditioner you put in wet hair... It's really helped and my hair looks better than pre pregnancy!
