STMs - Private Registry?

Is anyone else thinking about setting up a private registry no one else could see? I only need a few things for DS2, but the registry completion coupon would be nice.

I set up a registry. I might tell ppl ab it for my sprinkle since this time around were having a girl. Plus things for DS to use the completion coupon.

I think its lame to have a private one. Plus BRU coupons are abundant and many things can be gotten used for so cheap and in great condition... I wouldn't spend my time doing a registry no one would even see. Plus I don't need anything really. Now I'm having a girl so I need girly things, but most of the NEED stuff I already have. I find it pointless.

And making one that is not private, is down right tacky.

I made one on Kohl's after someone said you'd get a $25 coupon (which I didn't get). I would do registries elsewhere for incentives like gift cards, deeper discounts, etc.

It's not tacky to make another registry, it's tacky to advertise it and expect people to buy you things off of it. I have a Wish List on Amazon just so I can keep track of all the little things I want to get or replace but if they offered an incentive for creating a registry I'd move everything there just to get the credit or whatever.

I have Amazon Prime so I buy a lot from them. I set up a private one as my 'list' and to get the coupon, however I won't be searching every store that gives coupons and making a thousand private registries.

Absolutely! Where else am I going to keep track of what I want to buy? I think of it more as a wish list than anything else. It's not like I have given anyone a link to it and if they go out searching for my name just so they can call me tacky... well then, I don't think I am the one with the personality problem.

My private one is more of a running list of anything I have thought I wanted to get and have not purchased myself already. When I buythings (whether on Amazon or in store somewhere, I just remove it from my 'registry'. It definitely helps my memory and keep track of what I still would like to get!

I have a friend who buys a lot of stuff off of craigslist and ebay. She spends hours and hours looking for stuff. As she says, you can spend money or time. I'd rather sleep. I just don't have the time to search listings to look for a deal. Similarly, signing up for a registry as a STM seems like a waste of time to me. Maybe if I didn't work full-time and have a toddler at home.

I'm a FTM but we had our shower a year ago when we were in the adoption process. The registry I had then expired so I made a private registry on amazon last week more as a checklist for us of what we still need to get (and to get the completion discount). I set it up so that people can only see it if we give them the link. I won't make it public or have another shower, but I know some of our family members will ask what we still need so we can send them the link if they ask for it. If I end up getting it cheaper somewhere else then I'll just take it off the registry- it's more of a checklist for us than a registry.

I have made two as of now and neither are private. I honestly have no clue how to make it private. We need a swing and will be using a target gift card we have for that so I made a registry at target for the coupons to use towards the swing. I also made one at BRU for the few things we need that can wait for the completion coupon.

Tacky is sending poems to people demanding gifts from certain stores or checks. Having a registry, private or not, puts no demands on anyone.

I have one on amazon for the 15% off! I might do a target one too. I plan to use it to get a discount on our stroller and the few things we want/need for this baby. I also put some stuff on it for DD.

Some friends are doing a sprinkle for me this time around & have asked me to do a light registry. I think it's very kind of them. This is fairly common in our circle so it's not a huge deal. We kept so much of DS's things. I will probably register for new bottle nipples & a few things like that.

I have a couple to keep track of what I need to buy. I have changed my mind a lot and removed things or changed things along the way. Also I get a lot of ideas from groups like this one or other moms, and it helps to be able to keep track of things that may be helpful. It's easy to see on the registry what is on sale that month if you are buying a little at a time. I also use it as a tool to compare prices when I am ready to buy.

I have one at amazon and bru. They aren't private, but people aren't going to be getting us gifts or searching for what we want so I guess I don't really care that it's public. They are specifically for the coupons, and it's nice to shop now, buy later. I really don't want to spend time on amazon when baby is born and we find out the sex. I already have boy things and girl things picked out.

They are really blocked from being able to search for it.

Plus if it's a target or something registry give yoursel the AE name you always wanted.

I'll have to make another one after I buy what I want because we didn't find out the sex and I thought we were going to. The coupon is only good one time, right??
