Cycles after weaning

Hello ladies! I've been googling this like crazy, but I'd love to hear some experiences from you. I weaned my DD extremely gradually, and got my first PPP when she was 15 months. It was a long one and I'm TTC again, so I decided to wean completely by 16 months to shorten them. The cycle I weaned her was even longer (48 days) and I'm just crossing my fingers that this next one is a bit shorter and things get back to normal soon.

My question is, for those of you who have weaned, how long did it take for you to "get back to normal"? My doctor said to give it a few months, and I'm happy to be patient, but I'd love to know there is an end in sight soon. If you had long cycles, did they shorten eventually? TIA!

Re: Cycles after weaning

  • my almost-19-month-old DS is still breastfeeding, but i got my period back when he was a year old. my cycles were pretty long initially, like 35-36 days, but they seem to be gradually shortening to more like 32-33 days. not every woman has a 28 day cycle, though- the normal range is 21-35 days.

  • Absolutely, and I'd be happy with 35 days...but 48 is a bit much. I didn't even ovulate until day 38. Good to know yours shortened eventually. Thanks!

  • My cycles are not the same, well even before DD came. Usually between 28-34 days.
