Pregnant after 35

Question for Ladies out of first trimester

Hi There - Happy Thursday!  So, I'm still in my first trimester - 8 weeks with good soon yesterday, yay!  Although I'd say I'm really lucky because I'm not necessarily feeling sick or getting sick, I just feel YUCK!  Like i don't want to eat anything (except a McDonald's cheeseburger, which I won't give in to).  Nothing sounds appealing.  I'm wondering, for those of you who had this feeling, was the 12-week mark really the magic time, earlier?  Later?  It's been 10 years since I was pregnant so I don't remember much!  Thanks!

The fog lifted for me in week 13.  By the 14th week mark, all the yucky feelings were gone.  Hang in there!

  • Yes, it was about 12 weeks when I started to regain my appetite and I stopped feeling woozy. I never did get true morning sickness, but I had lots of food aversions and eating was a chore.

  • Oooh...and smells!  Some food smell aversions, but my daughter is 12 and LOVES Bath and Body Works body sprays and her room REEKS of it...I don't have the heart to tell her to stop using it, but it makes me feel so GROSS!

  • I never had morning sickness but the smell aversions were really bad for me in the beginning. At my gym people wipe down the equipment with Simple Green after they sweat on the machines and the scent of that almost made me puke each time. It started to get much better after first tri, but never completely went away. I still have strong reactions to scent just not puke inducing :)

  • My food aversion lifted a little last week and I'm 21 weeks right now. I have to be honest, I was loving the fact that I wasn't putting on any weight, therefore must have been losing. I have some flab in store and made sure I took my vits and mins religiously and I forced down fruit. I wouldn't say the aversion has totally gone even now, it's just that my stomach is forcing me to eat more often. I'm craving fruit and cheese... not sure that cheese counts as I crave it pregnant or not!

  • This is my fourth baby in six years so all pregnancies are still kind of fresh.  My fog lifts around 16 weeks.  This time I got lucky and it lifted around 14 weeks though I was on Zuplenz.  This was the first pregnancy that I used meds for my sickness.  Good luck!

  • I'm almost 16 weeks.  The food aversions went away for the most part 2 weeks ago.  I finally felt like I could eat adult foods instead of just toddler foods.  Smells are still really bothering me though.  As for the nausea, before about 2 weeks ago I was nauseous all of the time, vomiting some even while on Zofran.  The nausea has mostly lifted, but every time I try to stop taking Zofran I end up really sick.  I'm still super tired, but have more pep I think because I'm eating better.

  • Haha! Toddler foods...that's what it is...Mac n cheese sounds good to me, but I don't keep it in the house and refuse o buy it for myself! @nikkiuk...I have to admit, the fact that I've lost some weight hasn't had me worried-a little happy, actually...I'm a personal trains but even so, have always struggled with my weight. I knw now's not the one to worry about it, but still...the back of my mind is an active place! ;)

  • Sounds like everything is pretty normal!  My food aversions mostly went away by week 12 or 13.  Some things still gross me out, but they were things that I didn't like before.

And ah yes, the smell aversions.  Those have never totally gone away for me but were really bad in the first tri.  Cigarettes and this one brand of natural dish soap were the worst for me.

  • Hang in there! The moment I hit my 12th week, boom! OMG I can hold everything down.  And all of a sudden I have so much energy.  IT will definitely get better!  And to think on Valentine's Day, I couldn't keep anything down.  As in anything, not even water!  So it does get better!

  • I'll be 15w on Friday and no real issues with food since week 13, with the exception of chicken, which I just have no desire for and won't eat...nausea gone, too. This week finally started getting energy back

  • Well with my first (5 years ago) I hit 13 weeks and bam all was fine. This time around...... I always felt sick about 7pm on the dot. I am 31 weeks and still sometimes I get that feeling. (Sorry to say). Although I am starting to think it is tied to when I have something sweet after dinner. Ha.Hang in there!
