Behind the ears!

During tummy time today I noticed all this shit behind DS ears!, omg I guess I missed that memo to really clean back there. It smelled bad too! Mom of the year right here! Anyone else or do I win?

Re: Behind the ears!

  • I am a TTM now so I know to look back there but with my first, I failed too. Don't feel bad. Now that you know it gets yucky back there just keep it clean. A baby wipe wash each night before bed on the non-bath nights is what I do. Behind ears, under neck and between fingers and toes are where I find it gets gross.

  • Yup! I found some nasty cheesiness collecting behind DS's ears a couple weeks ago. I clean his neck with a wipe a couple times a day... Since I found the stank behind his ears I also wipe that as well.
  • I found gunk in LO's armpits and in the little lines on the palms of his hands!

  • After the hair tourniquet thread I've found so much lint under his toes too!

LOL, yes!!!  we just noticed this on Sunday. We learned early on about her hands and pits and I've always washed behind her ears at bath time, but CLEARLY wasn't folding them over far enough. omg, not pretty.

  • Her neck ha been getting nasty lately. Also her grubby hands she's always suckling on, makes me gag! !
  • Uh oh.. I haven't looked behind the ears. He is not a stinky baby though and doesn't have a lot of folds. I will be checking behind the ears in the morning!

  • Yep, we get the stinkies in the neck folds and behind the ears...took me a while to figure out where the smell was coming from!

  • Hmmm just checked behind his ears, they're good. Never thought to clean there. I have the most trouble with that crease between leg and crotch, always poo remnants mixed with diaper cream. I swear that crease is a mile deep.

  • I feel like I'm constantly walking around with hand and face wipes because of this very reason. Haven't found anything too off the wall but her fingers always get so sticky and pick up lint from blankets, clothes, etc.

  • Fluff gets everywhere on M. Especially between his fingers and toes!
  • I'll find the occasional accumulation of crud in a thigh or neck roll now and then. What I find disturbing, is the way her hands smell after a night of being swaddled. What's more disturbing, is that I like the smell even though it's foul.

What kind do you use? The ones we use have a really strong smell that bothers me.

Side note: Henry had some lint between his fingers and my 4 year old cousin grabbed a wipe and came over and said, "come here Henry, we have to clean up your little patty cakes." It was adorable.
So far I've only tried Johnson's and Burt's Bees. I like the BB because they are fragrance free. I realllllly wish Aveeno would make some. I typically despise all Johnson's products - the wipes are just ok.

  • The neck is the worst. It's so bad that we refer to it as his "fart neck." Ew.

  • Yeah cleaning fat rolls is the worst...you always inevitably miss something and then you've got a stinky kid. Add to the fact that LO has a sensitive neck/armpits and HATES when I try to clean them -- she hunches up her shoulders/clamps her arms down every time I try to get in there...it's like a wrestling match and I feel like I never get it completely clean.

Do you know that Aveeno is made Johnson's? It's one of their brands. I don't mind either, but I just thought I'd let you know.
