Summer clothes sizing (for the baby)

We've got a big baby - 27 inches and 20ish pounds at almost 5 months. Relatives are starting to buy him summer clothes, and they keep asking for what size. He's currently in gap 6-12 and fits in 9 month clothes perfectly and 12 month clothes with some room. The next size up is 18 months. I feel like that is huge! I know they slow down weight wise once they're mobile, so is it crazy to think he'll be able to fit into 12 month still during the summer? I just can't wrap my head around 18 month clothes for my little boy

... lol. What do you guys think? What size you are all buying?

Ds is currently ~15lbs and 26.5 inches. He fits into 6 month mostly and a few 3 month outfits. I'm planning on buying some 9 and 12 month stuff for the summer. There is a huge consignment sale in my hometown this weekend and I'm going back for that. They've got great deals so I don't mind buying things he might not be able to wear a whole lot of.

LO is tiny. She weighed 11# at 4 month visit and is 25". Right now she is still wearing 3 month clothes. I have bought 6 month for summer with some 9 month for late summer and into fall.

My DS is just a little bigger. He is fitting 12 mo well now. I do think 12 mo is going to last a little longer, but it's going to be a couple months until it's really warm here. That's a lot of time to grow. I have some short sleeve onesies in 12 mo, but I plan on buying the bulk of summer clothes in 18 mo.

They definitely slow down as they start to move. And then, once they get in toddler sizes you get at least 6 months, if not most of the year out of that size. We're buying 12-18 month stuff for this summer. Frankie is 17lbs.

D is 17lbs and 25 1/2 long just getting into 9 months right now and also can wear some 6 month. I'll be buying 12 month clothes for summer 18 months for Fall. So at the very least get 12 months.

Little guy is 4 months old and he currently wears 6 to 9 month clothes. He is not chunky, but longer. He weighed 16 lbs 9 oz on Monday - 26 1/4 inches long. I have been getting him 12 months for summer. Hope it works!

My LO is still in 3 month clothes. She is 11.5 pounds at nearly 4.5 months. However, DD1 was a chub. I say 18 month clothes. Or try to find the 12-18 month clothing because summer is still a couple months away and by the end of summer he will be a year nearly.

DS is 26 1/4 inches 16 pounds as of two weeks ago. He fits in 6 month clothes with a few 3 month pieces.

I'm buying 9 months for summer. I am also buying those onesie snap extender things (I have no idea what they are actually called). He is so long that his onesies don't fit length wise but fit great width wise.

Our boys are similar : 19 lbs and 28 inches two weeks ago. He's been in 12 mos clothing since December. Add in cloth diapers and a longer torso and he is soon to outgrow that size.

I bought 18 and 24 mos for spring/summer and was so sad to have to convert his closet into big boy clothing.

LO is 11 pounds 12 ounces, prob almost 12 pounds now. She's in 6 month clothes with her giant CD, but outgrew 3 month even when wearing sposies. I didn't even think about growth slowing down when they start moving so she'll prob be in 6-9 months all summer. For your LO I have a few friends who have LO wearing 12-18 months around 9 months and it fits well. I personally prefer onesies and pants to be a tiny bit big verses too small because that just seems uncomfortable but I haven't even looked at how big 12-18 month clothes are. I probably won't bust that box of clothes out until LO is 2, silly tiny baby!

My LO is almost 17lbs and is in 12 months clothes depending on the brand. Honestly for summer clothes he's going to live in the tank top onesies they sell at Carters and I'm going to order 18 months. Carters runs kind of small so they're not outrageously huge.

I haven't bought any summer clothes yet. He's 16.5lbs and 28inches. I can't gauge what size he'll be yet. He's in 6-12 Gap and 9 month Carter's right now.

He's a cutie. DD is 14 lbs. She's mostly in 3-6 mo. She still fits in some 0-3 mo. I'm guessing she'll be in 6-9 mo this summer.

Omg. I want to eat your baby. Or at least kiss those adorable little cheeks. Lol.

Anyway. I have a big girl too. In the 90s for both height and weight. She's perfectly in 6-9 right now. I'm expecting her to be in 12m or even 12-18m clothing by summer. If she slows down like DD1 did, I'm thinking 12 will be perfect

DS1 wore 12m and 18m his first summer. DS2 is already in 12m he was 18.5lbs and 28" @ 4m.
ETA: yesterday it was 80 here and I had him in a 12m romper and it fit perfect! DS1 stayed in rompers they are so easy!

@Skyjewell23‌ - if you find a onesie extender that actually works let me know. I only found one brand at BBB and it didn't have the same size snaps so I had to return it. I think I may cut up an old Carter's and Gerber onesie, sew the two ends together and make my own. Well I'll attempt to sew it, I suck at sewing! Lol!

I would say 12months.

It's hard to guess sizing. I live in Florida, so Daphne has a plethora of "summer" clothes in all sizes since she can wear them at anytime really. She is just under 17lbs and about 25 inches. She fits comfortably in 6month Carter's, 6month Amy Coe and Truly Scrumptious are getting a little tight. I have been buying a lot of 9 month rompers for summer. It gets too incredibly hot here and those are just easier and more light weight. I need to get a swimsuit, but am trying to wait a month or so to see if she grows more. She can even still fit in some 3-6 month stuff, but I feel that will stop soon.

Thanks you guys. I'm going to go w/ 12 months... and a few 18 month ones for outfits that can carry us into fall. Ugh, makes me so sad! He's getting so big! Where did out babies go!??!
