Breast feeding mommas

Did the doc give you vitamins to supplement your baby with? I believe it's vitamin D...my doc gave me some and I gave it to my baby but he threw up quite a bit after and I haven't given it to him again...any of you have the same experience? Idk wether to keep giving it to him or not I feel bad :(

  • Our pedi told us we would start Vitamin D at his 2 month appointment if he was still EBF

  • It was never mentioned at the hospital. We go for our first pedi appointment tomorrow

  • Went to the first docs visit today and she mentioned getting her the vitamin d (liquid that is dropped into mouth) and she also mentioned that it tastes rly bad so if u pump at all put in in the bottle instead of just in the mouth. So maybe it tasted rly bad and that's why he threw up? I don't pump yet so I'll have to drop it in her mouth..have yet to pick up the product so not sure how she'll react
  • We gave DS vitamin d for quite a while and I think we started after the first check up.

  • Once again the southern mom is recommending sunlight. I'm sure the sun comes out in Canada sometimes. Seriously though sunlight is good stuff. I second the Carlson labs vit d drops too. You can get them on amazon and its much easier to give a drop than 1 ml of the super nasty brown junk.

  • My OB said to just keep taking a prenatal vitamin.

I live in Alberta, Canada and we get tonnes of sun! The problem is that because of our latitude the angle of the sun means that we don't get a lot of the same wavelengths of light, they refract off the ozone layer before they reach us. So while we have lots of sunny days, we don't actually get enough of the right light to make adequate vitamin D. Here infants are recommended to take 800 IU, and my GP wants me taking 2000 IU. I know people taking up to 5000…

  • Our friends tried the supplement for the first time on a day we visited. LO puked so bad it came out of her nose and mouth at the same time. Scared the crap out of me. I think I will put up a fight if they are suggested to us

  • I've always given the 1 mL dropper of Vitamin D.
Neither kid had a problem, and DS actually seemed to really like it.

We don't get a lot of sun (not that the sun doesn't shine here), so I definitely want LO to get the drops.

Try giving a half dropper twice a day, or try the Carlson's.
