Hi everyone,

New here..just got my BFP today at DPO 11. Married 4 years to DH and this is our 1st child.

I have a very newbie question, so if there is somewhere else I should look for this info, please let me know and I apologize in advance.

I obviously plan on calling my OBGYN tomorrow, but all I've found on google is that they wont' see you until about 8 weeks since your last period. Is that correct? Don't they usually bring you in to confirm? Any info is appreciated!

    Hi Jamie and welcome! There's a similar and recent thread here on the 1st tri with lots of answers (it's called "pregnancy confirmation visit" and is currently one page 2) but I'll give you my response here. With my first (in NJ) I called right after my BFP (about 4-5 weeks) and they scheduled my first visit for 8 weeks. I got my dating u/s that day, gave blood, and got a lot of paperwork and information. With this baby (in MD) they made me come in right away (4.5 weeks) to do a pee test, an u/s (they couldn't see anything), and a slew of blood work but no paperwork. My next appointment is scheduled for 7 weeks to do another u/s for dating. I'm actually switching OB's and the new one is in DE. At that office they apparently have a similar policy; they don't take your word for it that you're KU, they make you come in and do a blood test to confirm pregnancy right away before giving you a bunch of paperwork. Then they schedule the dating u/s for 7-8 weeks.
    The moral of the story is that I think it depends on the state/area, and the OB. Either way, good luck and congratulations!
