Stokke Tripp Trapp alternative?

So I know the Stokke Tripp Trapp is totally awesome, but does anyone know of a decent knock-off/alternative that doesnt cost $250??

Re: Stokke Tripp Trapp alternative?

  • The Keekaroo is similar in price but you don't need the add-ons like the Stokke.

  • Check Craig's List.  Also, I second the PP who mentioned the Keekaroo.  There's also the Svan Signet, Oxo Sprout, and Nuna Zaaz that are really nice and offer features like wipe-clean surfaces and grow-with-your-child adjustment.  They are all around the same price as the Stokke, except that you don't also have to shell out more cash for the infant set and a tray.

FWIW, I don't think the Stokke Tripp-Trapp is really that awesome.  We had it and sold it after two months.  My son HATED sitting in it because it was so hard and "upright".  I just don't think it was comfortable for him (he was around 2 at the time).
  • Thanks, ladies! And @laurel22 omg I would be sooo pissed if I shelled out the $250 and then didn't really love the chair that much. It's an interesting point you bring up!
  • We LOVE our Svan Signet. It's not any cheaper, though.

Yeah, it was frustrating, but luckily we were able to resell it on Craig's List for $200, so we were able to recoup most of the cost.

The Svan is less expensive once you consider that it already comes equipped with a "baby set" and a tray, and if you want a cushion it's "only" $40.  With the Stokke, the baby set is $70, the cushion is $45, and the tray is another $50, on top of the $250 for just the chair!  Comparing apples to apples, the Svan isn't cheap, but it's definitely less than going all-in with the Stokke.

My nephew has this one.  You can buy the tray to add on.  They are happy with it.

I know a family with two Svan chairs.  They were nice (they used them from like 8months-6years).  But I recall them being a real pain to clean food out of as they had so many cracks, crevises and screw holes for food to plug up.

This is a totally different style but I have one and absolutely love it. Super super easy to clean and very very low profile. I have a tray that my baby can use but usually I just pull him straight up the the table and he eats there. We have a black dining room set and this high chair blends right in. It looks almost just like a normal chair pulled up to the table when not in use! It's so great! https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Commercial-FG781408-Sturdy-without/dp/B005KD65T2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
  • I have the keekaro right height high chair and love it. It comes with the infant insert and the tray. We started using it with the tray and now just have him pushed up to the table.
