Is that a finger? BBC

So I am a member on both the bump and baby center. Today I stumbled across a post that asked if her ultrasound was wrong and that if her baby's finger could be what is shown. It's obviously a penis. After a few more post someone said would it make you feel better if it was a three legged girl and she replied maybe. What the heck?!? You would prefer a baby with birth defects over a healthy boy! What the hell is wrong with you!! I am sorry but, the amount of gender disappointments on BBC. I get ripped a new one for saying that people are crazy for being over dramatic over not getting the gender you were hoping for.

  • Hopefully it's MUD, but it seriously amazes me and pisses me off when people are disappointed with the sex. I mean unless you had IVF and had a choice, you have a 50/50 chance of either sex. People can be such assholes!

  • I mean I want a baby girl but, I will be happy either way. I am grateful to be pregnant with what I am assuming is a healthy baby.

  • I realize it was insensitive. When I get mad I tend not to think about what I am posting.

  • OMG. I usually don't reply to these but OMG! She's seriously sick with grief and unable to accept the fact that she's having a boy? And has 2 girls already? What the hell did she think was going to happen when she tried for number 3? People are ridiculous! Its a freakin 50% chance you could have either. Don't like the odds don't try if the level of disappointment in one is going to be this extreme. She makes me sick, real talk. I HOPE for that LOs sake she was a troll.

  • I think that was probably the clearest boy picture I have ever seen. WTF!?!? A finger? Surely to goodness this can't be true!

Not to sound completely stupid but you can pick the sex if you do IVF? I've never heard of that....but I honestly don't know.

Yup through preimplantation genetic diagnosis. It is helpful if you have a genetic condition that is passed down to only girls or boys. They called me and asked if I had a preference on which embryos to transfer first (make or female). Quote fail on ipad.

  • Those bbc lassies are SO mean when it comes to sex disappointment! They're insane. I agree, get the hell over it, but damn... They go on and on and on.

I keep going back and reading someone just pointed out her screen name. So the drama continues. *grabs popcorn and pop watches intensely*

  • I have so many things I want to say but none of it is anywhere near nice, so I'm just going to go with some people really shouldn't procreate.

  • I have to be honest, when we found out we were having a boy I laughed because I was happy. But that doesn't mean if we were having a girl I wouldn't have been happy. I understand wanting/hoping for a certain sex and being a little disappointed. I think it's natural to think of your baby as a certain sex (maybe I'm wrong, but I called this LO boy because that's what we thought he was). But being a little disappointed is different then wishing that there was a possible health issue with your child or being on anti-depressants because it's not the sex you want (that's mentioned later in the comments)

  • I think those women are going easy on her. Maybe I haven't read far enough.

With DD I was positive she was a boy, and when the tech said girl I made her double check and after a few moments of complete shock I was overjoyed to be having a girl.

This time I know that either way there will be a quiet moment of mourning no matter what we have. This is almost 100% our last. If I have a baby boy I will mourn never having another sweet baby girl to raise. If I have another girl I will mourn a baby boy that I'll never get to have, but either way I will be thrilled with my new baby!

To clarify, with pre implantation genetic testing, if you have male and female embryos that are dividing well you can choose which you want to transfer. If only the males are dividing well, they you really don't have much of a choice.
  • That OP just makes me angry. You have a healthy child but the sex was not what you wanted? Get over it and be happy you were able to get pregnant in the first place, even if you shouldn't have.
