So my dog tangled me up in her leash and I fell on my butt. I've called the doctor now I'm just waiting for them to return my call. For those of you that have taken a spill what did your doctor advise you to do? FTM so I'm just worried I'm 28 weeks
What Rachel said, usually they will ask you if you are having any cramps/abdominal pain/bleeding/discharge. Otherwise, if you didn't fall on your front, they will usually tell you to stay hydrated, take it easy and call if anything changes.
I agree it is always good to call your doctor but try not to stress. I fell face first when I was pregnant with DS. I decided it was a good idea to try and jump over the electronic eye on my garage door since my clicker wasn't working and hit a patch of ice, not my smartest moment since pregnant women do not exactly leap like gazelles but even though I still have scars on my hand from the fall he was totally fine. There is a pretty good cushion/bubble in there so just try and relax and tell your dog to simmer down from now on.
My sister in law fell and broke BOTH OF HER ARMS with her third child. (She had two toddlers at that point! Can you imagine not being able to hug them? Or even wipe your own behind?) The baby was fine, and in fact he's now a high school student, doing awesome in every way.
Another fall story: I fell while pregnant with DS at 34ish weeks down three steps. I somehow managed to land on my back. He was fine and stayed put until 38 weeks.
I did piss myself though, which was traumatizing as my whole family was around. :P
First off don't stress about it. My dogs tripped me the other night and I was a little freaked. As long as you are not bleeding, heavy discharge and such it's not much to worry about IMO. You may have pissed the baby off the the sudden impact but they are very well protected in there. If you can't shake the feeling that something is wrong, tell your doc and they can get you in for monitoring.
If you fell on your bum, I wouldn't worry. I've wiped out twice on the ice this winter and didn't do a thing given that I wasn't hurt, felt the baby move as normal, and didn't have bleeding.
I slipped in a gas station about two weeks ago and fell forward (although I managed to get my arms and knees, not face and belly). My doctor told me to watch for bleeding, cramping, or contractions in the next 48 hours. He also told me not too worry and this is incredibly common! I felt fine except for bruised arms and knees and LO continued to kick vigorously.
I hope all turns out well! I worry about this from time to time--I haven't fallen (yet), but am super clumsy, so it's nice to hear that those who have fallen have had advice from docs to just take it easy and what to watch for.
Ive had loads of stupid spills, all of which freaked me out. But my dr reassured me that our LOs are very safe in there. Like a fish in a fishbowl. I also would have called the dr but everyone else points are spot on. Feel well!
