S/O The Walking Dead - Season 1 Question

Something I've always wondered about but I don't want to Google because I don't want any spoilers. But I guess the show isn't really following the comic anyway?

I was only half paying attention in Season 1 because I wasn't sucked in yet. When the doctor at the CDC whispers something to Rick, do we know what he said? Does anyone have any theories? I always assumed it was something about the virus but Rick doesn't act like he knows some important secret. Didn't know if I just missed it.

I think that rick later reveals that the doctor told him that everyone has the virus, you don't need to be bitten in order to turn into a walker, if you die you turn as well.
