Started the Playhouse (Updated!!)

We're building a playhouse for DD. DH took the week off work to work on it (and possibly move a fence, depending on a pending sale of an adjoining lot). We have super awesome plans (it'll be fully enclosed, insulted, wired with electricity, and heated (though not full time)), but I'm dealing with a rotator cuff injury, so I'm not a lot of help.

I look forward to having it available to play in even during the wet/cold winter. And I really look forward to her being 10 years old, saying "I want to go read by myself" and going out to the playhouse for hours with a book. I can dream about it, anyway.

Every year or two we do some sort of major project - one year it was lighting and painting in the room I used to teach yoga, one year it was a re-landscaping project and some garden beds. I didn't really intend for it to get this "finished", but I take off in one direction (my first thoughts had a plank bridge between two structures and a rock climbing wall and swings :P) and DH takes off in another (windows and baseboard heater). He likes to have projects to sink his time into too.

we just decided last night to build a swing set. The kind we can add on too. So I see a weekend gone to that. I can't wait to see pictures

We've got the concrete piers in and the floor support/subfloor. Just in time for the rain to start. (Really, it's pretty good timing for the good weather, given we needed 24 hours of dry for the concrete, and it's nearly Spring in Seattle...)

I might be able to get a couple of pics up tonight.

Wow...looks like it is going to be awesome...lucky DD. Also jealous of the green background...I vaguely recall that substance is called grass....winter needs to be done already!

So jealous. I want a playhouse for myself, o I can go read books and the boys don't interrupt. I guess DS could have one too.

I'm super stoked about it. I expect we'll be sharing with some of the near-age neighborhood kids.

But I'm jealous of all y'all who have *any* family nearby who can *ever* watch your LO. :P

The grass stays pretty green through the winter. Of course, it's far less grass than it is moss... And spring is certainly coming early to Seattle - allergies have certainly begun!

I have no play house, family near by or green grass.... I have serious FWP (which by the way is my new favorite saying)....maybe the grass is green but I would't know as it is buried under 4 ft of snow...serviouslyy they are warning children to stay off snow banks as it puts them in close proximity to power lines....that is messed !

Oh just remebered a story by robert munch called the play house or renee's playhouse. Really great story. You DD might like it if she hasn't read it already. Very cute.

Updates!

We've gotten another wave of activity completed on the house!

Slide got installed (and tested):

Walls got built in the garage and carried into place:

Walls and roof beam were installed:

Siding has been installed on (three) walls (with a little help!):
