So, did DST generally screw up LO's sleep?

I assumed we, and a lot of you, would have issues with LO's not going to sleep on time and/or sleeping late in the morning since we lost an hour. But DD is just messed up in general, with no particular pattern.

Last night we put her down a little later than normal - maybe 35 minutes or so - to try to compensate. She sat up in her bed talking for well over an hour. This morning she was up an hour EARLIER than normal, which doesn't make sense. And then she fought her nap for my husband even though she was clearly exhausted from getting up at the crack of dawn. She never does that. She's generally a really great sleeper (knock on wood).

I'm sure it will all even out this week.

  • It really isn't affecting Colby too much thankfully, I think that when we turn the clocks back int he fall it will be much more challenging.

  • She often stays up a little later on the weekends so I really didn't think we'd have a problem. I was surprised. I'm sure that being back at daycare for a day or 2 will normalize her schedule again.

Not really, we 'slept in' on Sunday, meaning that we got up at the same time we always do. To get on schedule we just planned a really exhausting day for DD and spent a ton of time outside, she asked for meals at the correct times and took a shorter than normal nap. She went to bed at her regular bedtime last night and got up at her normal wake up time as well.
For whatever reason fall was harder for both of us, but not particularly difficult either.

  • L had to be woken up this morning for DC and cried the entire way. Poor thing was tired. I hope that her nap today is a good one and resets her lack of sleep from last night.

Spring is easier on us than fall. We played them hard yesterday outside. They stayed up a little bit late, 20 minutes or so, but will probably be up later until fall because we like to play outside after daycare before dinner. They went to bed easily and woke a little later but that was good because James has been waking really early.

  • Nope.  Never screws up Nanc.  Screwed me up though.  IDK why I had such a hard time getting up this morning.

  • DS, no.

DD, a little bit. She went to sleep about 45 minutes later than normal, but slept the same amount of time as she usually does....actually, maybe about an extra half hour.

She's also is taking her nap a little later today.

  • no real issues here.  I put them to bed at their usual time last night and they slept in until 7 this morning - usually they are up at around 6:15.

We didn't wake up to an alarm clock on Sunday morning, so DST did not affect us. As my DH explained to me (because I didn't really believe him). If you sleep until your body just wakes you up, then you probably won't notice it, just because the numbers on the clock changed didn't change Kate from sleeping her regular 10.5 hours...

That's what I thought too, except it did change it. LOL. Maybe my kid is just weird. But she went from sleeping a solid 12 hours every single night to about 9 last night and then barely napping today. No teething, no illness that I know of. Just very unlike her.

I thought we were going to get out without any notice of the time change, but then today happened.

She slept until 9:15 but then didn't take a nap. I wanted to put her down early tonight but by the time dinner and bath were done it was 7:30 and she was so done and overtired. She screamed when I put her down but finally fell asleep about 10 minutes later.

As much as I would love to sleep in again tomorrow, I'd rather her wake up early so she'll go down for a nap!

  • I messed up DST in my head and had the in-laws keep LO up late on Saturday. He slept past 9. Whoops.

  • B has been a bit screwed up but it started on Saturday afternoon when his nap was almost 2 hours late as a result of my brother running behind. He then went to bed late but work up an hour later on Sunday and it's pushed everything back. He usually in bed at 8-8:30. Sunday night he was in bed at 9:15! Last night was much better at 8:30 and then woke up this morning at 8:10. Hopefully we'll get back on track soon.

  • We've been wanting to push back M&M's bedtime so we really didn't adjust her schedule to the time change. We are now putting her to bed at 8 and she wakes up on her own around 7 and at  least the last two days has taken a 2 hour nap.

  • Hope you all get back on schedule soon. DD seems to have evened out between last night and this morning - hope it sticks.
