My newborn is three weeks old and he spits up quite frequently throughout the day. The hospital sent us home with Enfamil Infant formula but we had to switch to Enfamil Gentlease because he was having trouble digesting the Enfamil Infant formula. He still has tummy troubles and gas and possibly some reflux but I think the Gentlease is a little easier on him. I'm not sure if it's the formula or the kind of bottles we are using that makes him so spitty. We are currently using the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles with the slow flow nipples. While he's eating, it seems like a lot of formula leaks out of his mouth around the nipple and when I take the nipple out of his mouth, it is kind of bent. When we burp him, he usually spits up afterwards as well. Any suggestions or advice on what we should try in order to reduce the spitting up?
Re: Spitting Up a Lot
No two babies are the same and it takes some trial and error to figure out what is the best for each one.
We also mix a few gas drops in the formula to kill all of the bubbles in it when we mix it. That seemed to help also. Gripe water is fantastic when fussy because of upset tummy.
