1. How many weeks along are you?
2. Any medical updates (appointments, ultrasounds, tests/results, etc)?
3. How are you feeling lately?
4. QOTW: have you chosen a first and/or middle name for your LO or potential names if you are team green? Does the name have any special meaning for you or DH? (This question was inspired by reading a post from tryingyetagain last week - I didn't realize your LO's name will be Carolina - that is so pretty, love that name!)

Re: **2IF Grad Check-In**

  • FYI, sorry the formatting for the due date list got messed up. I am on mobile but will see if I can fix it for next week.

    1. 8 weeks
    2. I found out that I have a blood clot (SCH). The doctor said I didn't have to change my routine but I am freaking out about it. I have an u/s in 2 weeks and hope it is gone by then!
    3. Still feeling fine, except I am always hungry!
    4. If it is a girl, the name will be Mary Isabel. When I was pregnant with Jeffrey, I was convinced it was a girl, and that is the name DH and I agreed on. We both love the name Mary and Isabel was my grandmother's name. No boy name yet - DH barely wants to talk about my pregnancy (I think he is afraid to jinx it) so we haven't discussed boy names yet.

  • @jeffreysmom24, I have a SCH as well. If they didn't say to change anything it probably means it's not that big. My doc said to call if I have any spotting or bleeding otherwise I was okay.

    1. 8w4d.

    2. I have an appt today to discuss labs and also to do an early GD test because I am higher risk.

    3. I am so nauseous. I'm taking it as a good sign of course, but it's gotten really bad today. I'm considering leaving work.

    4. We aren't going to be team green. For a boy I really like Aidan and Elliott. For a girl Eleanor. Middle names are still up in the air.

  • @jeffreysmom24 and @cerad5, I hope your SCHs resolve themselves without issue soon.  I'm sorry both you of you have that extra anxiety on top of the anxiety that is the 1st trimester!

    As for me...

    1.  7w4d

    2.  I had an ultrasound last Monday, and everything looked good.  The LO was measuring on track with a heartbeat of 131.

    3.  I too am feeling the nausea.  No vomiting yet, and hopefully it stays that way, but it's that "I don't feel so good.  Maybe I should try eating something.  *eat something*  Yeah... maybe I shouldn't have eaten something.."  Not great fun but I'm viewing it as a good sign all the same.

    4.  I don't think we'll be team green and haven't given any consideration to names yet.  With DS, we actually didn't even discuss names until after the anatomy scan.  It was hard enough to get DH to discuss boys names; I don't want to go through the pain of deciding on two sets of names. :)

    April 2018 - 5 week loss o:)

  • Thanks for taking over the check-in, Jeffreysmom!  And thanks for the shout-out on Carolina's name.  After we officially decided on it (it was between that and Caroline), DH said, "hey, if we end up being surprised with twins, we can name one of them North and one of them South!"  I wanted to punch him, but I was laughing too hard.  Hope your and Cerad's SCHs resolve soon.  And the nausea does sound like a really good sign, Cerad and Cheesypeas, as much as it sucks.

I'm 33 weeks and feeling pretty good overall.  I'm starting to have lower back pain a lot now, and I imagine that will only get worse.  Some days I'm having a lot of Braxton Hicks, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse than a few weeks ago.  The perinatologist ordered a 24-hour urine collection since there was a small amount of protein in my urine a couple of weeks ago.  I procrastinated but finally did it this weekend, and just turned in my jug o' pee this morning.  We have our 34 week appointment on Friday.  Curious to see if she checks my cervix.

QOTW:  Our baby girl will be Carolina Elizabeth.  Carolina was just because I've always liked Carolina and Caroline.  When I originally suggested them, DH wasn't a big fan so I let it go.  But then a few days afterwards, he brought them up again and decided he really did like them.  We just decided on Carolina for sure a few days ago.  Elizabeth was one DH threw out a few months ago, and since it was my grandmother's name, as well as the name of my Dad's sister who died when he was in high school, I was on board from the beginning.

    Me: 42. DH: 46.

    1st Pregnancy: MC, 11/19/00.

Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN.  After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.

  • @jeffreysmom24 and @cerad 5.... sorry you're dealing with the stress of SCHs. My RE found 3 of them at my 7 week ultrasound and put me on bedrest. After a week of doing nothing, they still grew. It was so nerve-wracking, but they resolved themselves around 14 weeks. They're probably pretty small if your doctors aren't changing your routine.

I'm 32w4d today. Feeling completely overworked and underpaid. Work is crazy with finishing up report cards and planning for the rest of the year. I'm so uncomfortable by the end of the day.

Last appointment was Wednesday. Everything was okay but my blood pressure was on the "high" end of normal. OB said she's not worried because it's stayed consistent, but if it goes up (which is normal at the end of pregnancy), then I would need to prepare myself for bedrest or induction. Next appointment is next Wednesday the 19th. I picked up a cold from one or more students who conveniently cough everywhere but in their elbow. Sleep was not in the cards for me last night :(

Had a massage this past Saturday and it was divine!! I want moooooore!

Names are still up in the air as we are team green. For girls we like Lucy and Anne (nn Annie) for FN and not sure about middle name. Boys we like Henry, Oliver and Everett... DH loves George as a tribute to George Bailey from his favorite movie. :) I like it, but not ready to commit. More than likely we'll end up doing what we did with DD.... unnamed baby at 2 days post birth!

  • Holy crap it worked! I haven't been able to post from my computer in months!!! I'm mobile right now, Idk wth is wrong with my account -_- anyways not that I know this actually works lol...
(Excuse the format, I'm scrolling up and down to read the questions :( -)

    I'm 11 weeks and 3 days

I will be starting progesterone shots tomorrow, and its looking like ill need stitches in my cervix due to incompetent cervix. I have to go every 2 weeks for ultrasounds until 36 weeks, can't say I mind though... Who wouldn't want to see their little one every 2 weeks lol. I've been put on a daily baby aspirin, apparently there is a blood clotting issue. I'm on zofran and phengrine (spelling) thanks to ER trips and dehydration, so as long as I stay on that I'm OKAY!

I refuse to pick a girls name unless I HAVE to, so far I've only got a boys name down- no middle name yet. We chose... Nathan, it's very special to us because it means God gave/Gods gift . We found that to be so appropriate.

Hugs to everyone going through the SCH, what a stressful situation that can be! I wish I could individually address everyone that posted but its a little hard being mobile... So just know I read all your post and I'm thinking of you all.. PS If anyone knows how I can fix my account to where I can post using my actual computer again feel free to share with me! Basically what it's doing is I type everything and when I go to post it, it says I have nothing written and can't post a blank post! So annoying!!! Hope everyone is doing okay!
  • Southernmomma - so good to see your post! I haven't seen an update from you since you left the 2IF board and have been wondering how you were! Hope you are hanging in there with everything and that the medication is helping! I love the name Nathan - that is a great choice! And ps, I have the same problem with my computer - when I hit "post", the message disappears and I get a blank box! Anyway, good to hear from you and keep in touch!!
  • Thanks for asking about my appt last week @jeffreysmom24. All went well. The placenta, which started on top of my cervix, is now at the top of my uterus. I no longer have any restrictions :-)

    1. I'm 19 weeks
    2. I have my a/s a week from today.
    3. I feel pretty good lately
    4. We are team green. If its a boy, he will be Nicholas after MH's dad who passed away. No idea what the middle name will be yet. If it's a girl, we are thinking about naming her Paige Nicola, but we're afraid it sounds too much like DD's name (Payton Valles). Feel free to weigh in on this. I'd love to hear opinions.

  • Cerad - yay!!! I am so happy to see your update!!! That is awesome!
  • Hi ladies. I'm sorry I think somehow I've missed the 2IF Grad checkins the past few weeks.
I'm 20 weeks (half baked) and we had our big ultrasound last week. The baby looked great but there were two small issues so I have to have a repeat ultrasound at the beginning of May. They weren't able to get all of the heart measurements they needed and I have partial placenta previa so if it doesn't move I will have no choice but a repeat csection between 36 and 37 weeks.
I'm feeling great otherwise. We are really trying to finish up DDs big girl room. I can't believe she turns three in a few more days.
We haven't really picked out names yet but we do have a few that were on our list when DD was born that I still love and would use this time if DH agrees. I like Caroline Christine for a girl (its DHs grandmothers name and my grandmothers name). DD has my middle name for her middle name too (also happens to be my moms middle name). As for boys names I like Benjamin Charles (Charles is DHs first name which I think is neat because he has his dads first name for his middle name). :) I guess we will see when the baby actually comes. With DD we had two or three boy and girl names picked out and just knew her name once we saw her. :)

  • It sounds like the past week was difficult for many. I hope everyone is having an easier week!

I am 21 weeks. I had my liver/gall bladder ultrasound yesterday and no gall stones or anything abnormal which is good news. Last week I also spoke to the genetic counselor again and my favorite OB about the conflicting Mat21 and A/S results. They all agree that most likely this baby is a girl and either the vanishing twin was a boy or we are part of the general error rate for Mat21, and they are not worried about anything. Of course another OB that called with the gall bladder results today said Mat21 is right, but he is in the minority now and didn't read my reports. I am feeling more confident that it is a healthy girl, but waiting 3 more weeks until the follow up ultrasound. I am also finally feeling some movement which makes me very happy.

I love hearing all the names! We were basically decided on Owen for a boy, so had to go back to our original list after last week. Our 2 favorites are Rosalie and Emilia (MN Jean). We avoided nicknames with DS, but like Rosie and Emmy/Mila. DH really loves Rosalie but I am worried about the double R sound with our last name. Any opinions?

@ally510 I don't think they are too much alike. They both start with the same letter, but end very differently (and don't rhyme!).

@tryingyetagain When did the BH contractions start for you? I keep getting tightening but only very low so not the whole uterus. I think it could be baby rolling around and pushing out, but the dr also said it could be BH and told me to watch for 3-4/hour consistently so of course I am worried!

@MJC1116 I hope your blood pressure stays down. Mine went up at the very end with DS, so I am really hoping it doesn't happen earlier this time. I get so nervous when it is taken which makes it higher.

First of all, sorry this is so long!

My BH started really early (like during first trimester), and the only reason I really recognized them that early and when my uterus was still that small was because I had so many with DS.  At first I was just getting them when exerting myself, but starting about a month or two ago, they became random and some days they come far more often than 4/hour.  Definitely worse when I'm exerting or have a full bladder.  Same thing with DS, so I think I just have an "irritable uterus."  Which sounds about right for my unpredictable reproductive system!  Yours may feel very low because of how your uterus is situated.  When I get them, I can feel that my uterus is much closer to the surface on my right side.  Rock hard on the right directly under my skin, but there's more fleshy stuff on my left side before I press down to reach the hard part.  Weird.

Also, my maiden name starts with the same sound as my first name (a K and a hard C), and I always thought it had a nice melody to it.  So, I think first and last name starting with the same letter would sound good.  But I'm biased!

And one other thing... my best friend had her second child 2 1/2 years ago, and when she had a screening test done (can't remember what it was, but she was in late 30's so it might have been an amnio or CVS), they found 85% female DNA and 15% male DNA.  Her doctor said she had never seen that before, but ultrasound showed a girl, and the baby did turn out to be a healthy girl.  They figured she must have been pregnant with twins and the male baby did not make it.  FWIW!

  • @tryingyetagain I had an 'irritable uterus' with DS too though so there definitely could be something to that although I remember more cramping than this. I actually notice more when I am just laying down or sitting than moving but it is worse with a full bladder. The sides and places that feel hard switch, even within a few minutes. DH really thinks it is baby, but I am so afraid of missing preterm labor that I can't accept that! What have your doctors said for you to do or watch for? Are they worried about preterm labor? So far mine don't seem too concerned.

Thank you for the story about your friend. I really dislike when doctors say they haven't seen things before. DH and I both work in science and we can't find much data on these tests and vanishing twins. It is very interesting your friend had that experience with a CVS or amnio though. We really don't care boy or girl, but are just having a hard time switching from boy to something may be wrong with our boy to healthy girl. We just want to be sure baby is healthy. I hope after the next ultrasound it gets easier. 3 more weeks!

Thank you again! I hope your appt goes well and you get good news about your protein levels.

  • @AlmostWright, my OB wanted me to come in if I was having BH more often than 4/hour, if emptying my bladder, drinking a ton of water (counter-intuitive to needing am empty bladder, right?), and lying down didn't slow them down after an hour. I asked if we could make that two hours, since I've noticed that it takes a couple of hours for them to slow down. She was fine with that. So far, so good.

And I did get good news about my protein. It was a normal level for pregnancy. Whew!

I hope time goes by quickly between now and your next ultrasound!

  • So good to hear from everyone! I'm sorry I've been MIA from the check-ins the last couple weeks. Work has been crazy, and whoever said the thing about feeling underpaid and overworked...I'm right there with you. Not to mention DD's bday is next month and I usually plan awesome bday parties for her, and this year I've barely done anything :(

I'm 18 weeks and feeling pretty good besides some asthma/allergy problems. OB prescribed me an inhaler and I've been taking Zyrtec but still having wheezing & lots of coughing.

In other news...we found out this week we are TEAM BLUE! The pregnancy care center was offering free ultrasounds to train new techs, so I took them up on it! My anatomy scan isn't for 3 few more weeks.

Lastly, we are leaning toward Grant Jeffery for a name right now, but not finalized. Jeffery is DH's name. I think boy names are so hard!
