1st Trimester

What are you wearing?

So ladies, what are you wearing? I used my Bella Bands last time and loved them. This time, though...meh. I think the biggest issue is that I'm, well, cranky. Ha! I just don't feel like messing with the bands, making sure they're positioned right, putting them back in place every time I pee (which is, of course, a bazillion times a day), etc... I mean, obviously it's not that big a deal (if you've never tried them I seriously recommend giving it a shot - I love love loved them last time!), but I'm just not feeling it.
Anyway, I don't actually need maternity pants yet (clearly, no bump yet, just bloat. omg the bloat), but they're just so comfy! I will admit that I have been wearing my maternity "play" pants on the weekends, but they're pretty big still. The only reason they really fit is because the bands on them are super stretchy but "tighter" if that makes sense (they're Motherhood Maternity brand). My "problem" is work pants. I have maternity work pants (Liz Lange/Target brand) from last time that I love, but the bands are pretty lose and there is no way they would fit now. So...what to wear in the meantime? I know I should probably suck it up and wear the Bella Bands, but...cranky. And tired. If you were (or are) in my boat, would you go out and try to find maternity pants with a tighter band? Wear half-belly band pants? I guess I'm thinking that the half-panel pants would show a line and make it obvious.
Ok, that got long quickly. Any info is greatly appreciated, and if anyone else is already wearing maternity pants, it'll make me feel a lot better! :)

Re: What are you wearing?

  • I am wearing maternity work pants right now. I know it's just bloat, but I don't care because they are comfy.

  • Squiddly - Even though you're about twice as far along as me, that makes me feel so much better. Lol. Thanks! ;)

  • I've been wearing some maternity pants and some bigger sized work pants. I don't really care and it's kinda whatever I feel like. Before the positive, I was wearing size 4's and now I mostly chill in size 8's (since I had some hanging around from before I lost all the weight).

Being comfortable is more important than what people can't see.  :P

  • I have to wear pants that are provided by my job.  No choice in adding a belly band or anything.  I had to break down and order a larger size, hopefully they come tomorrow.  Either way they are very uncomfortable, by the time I'm leaving work I'm lucky if I can still have them buttoned.

    Oh so true. Thank you!

  • DaisyBlinks - my work pants are all the type where there's a metal piece that slides into another metal piece. That was the worst description of anything, ever, but I can't figure out how to describe it better. Anyway, the point was that I can't use a rubber band :( But I may try that on my play pants so thank you! P.S. - Your siggy picture makes me LOL every time I see it, so thank you for that as well.

  • bf43005 - oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm not sure how far along you are, but hopefully they have some sort of concession for pregnant employees - you aren't going to be able to just buy bigger sizes the whole time. Well, you probably can, but I don't imagine it will be that comfortable and/or attractive. And darn it, pregnant women deserve to feel attractive! Good luck to you :)

  • Oh, forgot to mention, I had to buy bigger work pants when I was about 6 weeks because I tended to wear my pants kind of tight and I was so bloated. So when I say I'm wearing maternity pants, that's because I've also "outgrown" the "bloat pants" I bought 5 weeks ago.
  • I'm in leggings & a long shirt with a cardigan. I can still fit into my jeans, but I usually have to use the rubber band trick, or resort to it as the day goes on. I just feel 100x more comfortable in leggings & I can get away with it at my work.

  • Thankfully we're able to wear jeans now at work. Last time I switched to maternity pants right around 14 weeks because I had my gallbladder out at that time and they felt much nicer on my little incisions and bloat than my jeans did.

I'm still very early, thinking 6 weeks, but I honestly can't wait to get back into maternity pants. So comfy!! I'm still fitting into my jeans fine, just look bloated. I swear I look 5 months pregnant some days from the bloat, its awful!
  • So since I don't have much of a "bump" yet, I've actually been safety pinning my full panel maternity pants to my bra...kind of crazy, I know but it works for me! I just have one pair that is full panel and two pairs that have the shorter panel.

  • I hate the bella band with a passion.

I broke out my low-band maternity jeans.

I do need to get some more loose tops, though.
Lol. I just dug my bands out to wear for the rest of the week since I can't go shopping until this weekend. I actually hated the low band maternity pants last time, but maybe they would be good for this early.

  • I'm still wearing regular clothes, too, but they're getting tighter. For comfortable work pants, I swear by these pull-on pants from New York & Co. They feel like yoga pants thanks to an elastic waistband, but they look like regular work pants. They're on sale right now, too!

I am definitely going to check that out this weekend! Thank you so much :)

I'm in the same boat (very early) but can't wait to wear maternity pants because they're so comfy! And yes! By the end of the day I look SO pregnant from this bloat. At home I just wear yoga pants, though, so it doesn't matter so much :)
