plus size maternity wear....HELP!!!

OK so I need some help on finding decently priced and cute maternity wear. I am really looking for a nice dress to wear for my shower. I have been googling and shopping all around and nothing really seems to "fit", whether it actually doesn't fit or the price is way too high for a simple dress. If anyone has any places they've shopped or know about please share. I always seem to find either plus size or maternity, hardly ever do I find plus size maternity. And if I do they may have 5 or 6 choices to choose from. Thanks I appreciate any suggestions you ladies may have :)

  • Motherhood has a plus size section:

    Old Navy does, too:

    They're both reasonably priced.

  • I really like the motherhood plus stuff, I think if you use destination maternity you get the pea in the pod and a few others too. I haven't bought anything from them but jcpenney had a few cute plus maternity dresses. HTH!
  • Try Sears, too.

  • I actually got a really cute plus size maternity dress from target that was under $30! I was stoked!!
  • Sometimes, you don't even need maternity. I ordered a dress for my shower just from the plus size section of Old Navy. The cut is more empire waisted, so it cinches just below my breasts, leaving plenty of space for my belly.

  • I have bought a few maxi dresses from Old Navy and I love them. They have really cute plus size maternity and they seem to always have a sale. Motherhood is good too, but I think Old Navy clothes are cuter
  • In my first pregnancy, I had some luck at JCP.com but I wasn't looking for a dress.

As a plus size person, I'm probably wearing my most flattering maternity blouse and skinny jeans to my shower. If your heart is set on a dress, I have several empire waist dresses (non maternity) from Igigi.com that fit beautifully over my bump. They are on the pricey side- but insanely comfortable and really high quality material/construction (my favorite little black dress from them is 5 years old and looks new- and would work perfectly as a shower dress if I weren't going to be laying out for my shower on bed rest. I think jeans are a little easier to maintain modesty on my back!)

  • I have the added disadvantage of a long inseam so being overweight, tall, and pregnant make for a difficult combination. However, I've had luck with pants at Gap, shirts at Old Navy, and dresses at Motherhood Maternity. Target occasionally has what I'm looking for (mostly shirts), but I hate their dresses (my breasts look like a uni-boob in most of their dresses).

  • I wear a 20/22 and I've bought pretty much all my maternity clothes from Old Navy and Motherhood. Thyme (from BRU) has nice tops that go up to XXL, and Target's dresses tend to be generously sized. But don't bother with Target jeans or slacks if you wear anything bigger than the smaller end of a size 18. Especially if you've got larger hips and/or thighs. Same goes for Old Navy. I can only wear yoga pants and other stretchy bottoms from either of those stores. Ironically, Old Navy's skirts fit fine, even the denim ones. Go figure.

  • I went to the mall today and they have taken out the Motherhood Maternity store I was kinda disappointed. @h011yday HAHA I tried on a dress from target the other day I thought it looked ok for being overweight and pregnant so I took a selfie and sent it to my husband he politely told me that it looked like I had 2 sets of boobies and the stripes just weren't working. I appreciated the honesty but left without an outfit.

  • I got mine shower dress at JCP.com, plus size maternity... $20... It was a black and white pattern. My hubby wasnt a fan of the pattern but my sister did my hair cute and i wore boots( upstate NY = cold and snow) and said i looked so pretty.
  • I've been looking for plus size maternity as well. Here's a list from The Curvy Fashionista that looks pretty comprehensive.

I'm only 17 weeks, so haven't picked up many maternity clothes yet. Will definitely want something pretty for when my shower rolls around this summer. Let us know how you make out!

  • Places like Old Navy, Target, etc. only work if you happen to be plus size without a chest. Every dress cuts WAY above my bust line- if I pull it down to where it should be my entire chest is out of the dress. In fact, I've been wearing Target maternity tops for a long time before I was pregnant b/c their regular clothes never fit. Now that I'm actually pregnant nothing fits. Plus, I refuse to shop in a store that won't carry plus sizes in their retail locations, like Motherhood. I agree with ThereBeDragons- igigi is amazing and worth the price because you'll be able to wear their products forever. I'm wearing one of their dresses for my brother's wedding & I'll be 24 weeks that day.
  • I wear about an 18/20 pant and XL tops and was able to find lots of cute plus size maternity stuff online at JCP in 1X (they have 2X and 3X as well in most things).  Some of it is even clearance (dresses for under $15!) or you can at least use one of the many coupons they offer.  The bad part is that they only offer the maternity online, but they are really good about making returns and reorders in store.  I also had good luck with XXL pants and XL tops from Babies R Us line (Thyme Maternity) and right now it is 70% off everything so the prices are great.  Some locations even stock the line in stores.
  • thanks for all the suggestions, maybe I can find a few shirts at least.
