Pale baby when sleeping

Sometimes I notice that my LO (seven weeks) gets more pale when she is sleeping or eating. Could this be because she is relaxed? She has stork marks on her face and they fade a lot too when she is sleeping/eating. I've searched Thebump boards and couldn't find anything similar, also Google doesn't bring up anything either. Normal? Or should I be concerned?

Our next doc appt is next week.

Re: Pale baby when sleeping

  • I seriously could have written this post.

My daughter is currently 13 weeks, she is lying beside me sleeping....totally pale - with stork bites and all!

We visited her pediatrician 2 weeks ago about her dry skin, and I mentioned these things. The paleness (and the cold hands my LO also gets) is because of their circulatory system is still developing and it's busy pumping blood to vital organs. It can take up to 3 months for it to completely "come online".

The stork bites on the face should disappear by 12 months or so, my doctor said to follow up with her if they are becoming darker or seem swollen.

  • DS is always more pale when he's sleeping. I haven't asked my pediatrician about it, but he's breathing okay and will move around in his sleep, so I'm not too worried about it. I'd call your doctor's nurse line if you are really concerned.
