High-Risk Pregnancy

Hi! (Intro) 1st time pregnancy and questions (pretty long)

I am board line type 2 diabetic (check Bloodsugar 3 times a week which has been in the 90s to 110 range) Also have thyroid issues. I have not been to the OB yet. Have an appointment in just under 2 weeks. So what should I be concerned about. I have not been to my Endrocrologist*(spelling). Nor have I called to tell them that I am PG. I am also checking to see what you all think about my OB watching all my stuff or if I will have to go to my Endrocrologist also? Just so many questions and concerns. I am not sure where else to turn. Thanks in advance.

  • My ob put me on glyburide when I couldn't keep my morning number under 95 consistently. I would definitely make sure to ask about that.

  • I'd call the endo.

I don't trust my OB with my diabetes/thyroid management.  OB's job is to take care of the pregnancy, not the other medical stuff.

  • My vote would be for the endocrinologist. The OB is likely to just give you pretty generalized treatment, but your endo should be able to work with you to fine-tune your individual needs.
