Does your lo do this?

My husband and I work full time so she is on a different feeding schedule than us.  Our DD will eat all of her food and be happy until she sees someone eating.  Then she starts to ask and whine until you give her a piece of whatever you are eating.  We certainly don't mind giving her some or her own serving but I'm curious if any other lo do this?

  • oh yes, dont dare think ANYONE in the room is going to have some type of food and he wont crawl to them whining for some.  if we even go to the kitchen he crawls at the speed of light bc he thinks we are getting something to eat for ourselves.

from what i hear this is an issue until they are 18, lol.

  • I wish mine did this. I think we have the opposite thing going on, I try to give her what I am eating and the kid just doesn't seem to like food..doesn't matter what it is that I am eating...
  • Lol, yes! Even if we're eating the EXACT SAME THING whatever is on my plate is apparently much tastier than whatever is on hers.

  • Our 13-month old has just started doing this.. she and our Shih Tzu are both little beggars! If anyone is eating anything in our house, they both come very close and stare at you.. my daughter will open her mouth and say ahh like she's waiting for you to fill it.  It would be really cute if it wasn't such a bad behavior.
  • Yes, all the time. And if we are eating all together, DS will want what we're having even if it's the same thing he has on his plate.
  • I wish we had that issue. LO will only snack and I have to work overtime to get in a few meals and it's the same 3 or 4 items every day.

  • Yes. During the week we only have to worry about dinner as DH and I work FT. We either eat early with DS, or wait until he's in bed. On the weekends, we just try to eat together. Doesn't always happen, but he's got to learn about disappointment and boundaries at some point. Might as well start with my food.
  • Absolutely. Dd will beg until you five her what you have and then won't eat it. Dunny!

Yup!  My DD does this all the time.  I usually serve her from my plate instead of serving her up her own if that makes sense.  She usually eats much more if she sees me give it to her from my own plate.  Also, when she's done I usually ask her if "mommy" can have the rest of her food and she gets really mad and all of a sudden wants to eat again.  It's cute and funny.

  • Lol. Yes. DD loves crunchy granola bars at home. (Nice pregnant lady snack for Mama!). So I sent some to Grandma's house for her morning snack. She won't go near them. I thought about it and asked Grandma, "Do you eat them with her?" Nope. So she doesn't want the granola bar, she just wants Mommy's snack! The stinker. On the flip side, it works for veggies too. If I eat it, she will at least try it.
  • DS does this every night! He's always been interested in what everyone else is eating even if he just had a full meal. I think it's pretty normal.

  • DS started pulling on my arm and whining today when I was eating lunch.  He ate about an hour before that.  That was a first for him to do since usually he has zero interest in eating.
