afraid of swing

in Babies: 3 - 6 Months
My almost 4 month old is terrified of her swing. She used to love it. It used to be the only thing to get her to go to sleep. But recently I put her in it and she started off fine and then started screaming bloody murder. Now when i set her down in it she screams automatically. Any tips? Did this happen to anyone else?

    No help here but my son does the same thing.  As soon as I bend down to put him in the swing he starts to cry and goes all stiff bodied. 

    I'd never considered that he could be scared of it.  What makes you think your daughter is scared of the swing?

    I think that maybe she feels like she is falling. Im not really sure. But she used to love it! And now she stiffness up ,puts her arms out  and cries hysterically. I have even tried lower speeds but nothing works. So it might just be time to put the swing away :(

    Does your swing change direction? Our swing goes from side to side or from front to back. My LO prefers the side to side swinging. Maybe try and switch the swing direction and see if your LO's preference has changed.

    Might be time to just put it away... a swing is not required baby equipment. We don't even have one.

    Yep. This happened a week or so ago with us. Your LO is probably just getting too old for the swing... sorry! It happens eventually.

    I don't think it's fear, exactly -- just "I know she's going to try to make me sleep in that thing and I don't want to!"

    This is what happened with LO. She used to only like front to back ,but now will only tolerate side to side. I believe we are almost to the point to packing it up and putting it away bc she doesn't seem to enjoy it for the length of time she used to.
