Maryland Babies

Do you have an OB/Midwife that you LOVE?!?

I just found out I am expecting #3 and I am looking for recs!
I used Capital Womens Care in 2007 when I had my daughter- delivered at ho co. Didnt have a great experience.
I used Kathy Slone for my son in 2010- delivered at Mercy. Everything was PERFECT!

I live in Eldersburg and am willing to travel but would rather not go too far since I tend to have pretty fast L&D. My biggest issue is that I have anxiety and need a provider who is laid back and personable. PLEASE HELP!!!

  • I really like Dr. Barnett in Westminster. I saw him for all three of my pregnancies.

  • I have an appointment to check out University of Maryland's Women Center Midwives.  Does anyone have experience with them or that hospital?  We can basically go anywhere, but we really want a midwife in a hospital setting.
  • I love ALL the MW's & CNP's @ special beginnings in Annapolis. That may be too far for you but I highly recommend them.

I too want a midwife in a hospital setting. I saw Paula Greer at the um women's center in Hanover. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm hoping for a vbac and they say they can help me achieve it... So that's who I'm going with.

  • I don't know if it would be too far for you, but I have been going to Perinatal Associates at GBMC and love them.  I see Dr. Weitz, and I have also seen Dr. Cyzeski.  Both are absolutely great.  Dr. Weitz is a straight shooter, and does not mince words.
  • One of my favorite midwives, Megan (blanking on her last name) from Special Beginnings works at UMD.

  • My OB is Dr Prashad in Glen Burnie- he is awesome and was reccommended to me by almost everyone I met when I first moved to Maryland (dads included)!
  • @singingirl96 Paula delivered my son! I had not met her before delivery, but felt completely comfortable in her care!

Thanks!  I'm part of their centering program, so I'll get to spend a lot of time with her before delivery.  She seems to think I should have no problems with a VBAC so I'm really hoping she's right.

  • Kathy Slone also delivered my daughter and I love her!  I just reached out to her a couple of weeks ago, and she said it looks like they'll be joining St Joseph's in Towson.
